I'll have a go again this year, someone has to come last. Hopefully my Vectrex will not pack up a day or two before the start again and I'll get to play more than 1 game on all of my 6 titles! This time I will look to reduce the distance between the top score and my scores :-)

VectorX: Thanks for your sticking the announcement, Darryl. D-Type: Great that you intend to participate, again! It's a good thing that you don't let yourself be deterred by the sometimes very good players and high scores. If you really played just 1 game per title you did very well! The Vector War is really intended for both beginners and experts and the more players the more players can compete amongst each other which is supposed to be fun. And even just playing and learning more about the new games will be fun.

Looking forward to participate again as well. There is a mistake in the text?: (beginning Oct. 10) I guess it should rather mean Nov. 10.

Looking forward to participate again as well. Another veteran, cool! There is a mistake in the text?: (beginning Oct. 10) I guess it should rather mean Nov. 10. Right, I've just corrected this. Thank you, Roland.

Hi, great that there will be another VectorWar.
Last year you had "Release" in your setup and I asked if it wasn't perhaps a good idea to use Karl Quappe - since it was new and fresh.
This year I'd like to ask the opposite :-). Two years in a row Karl Quappe? I know it is a fantastic game (*cough*) - but wouldn't a tiny change be even nicer? "Release" as Karl Quappe is also freely available - and it is IMHO a good competition title. Even long games usually take only a couple of minutes...
Anyway - just a suggestion ...
Cheers Malban

He sometimes runs games twice in a row if there's a good turnout of players for it (I severely doubt there'll be a rerun of Gravitrex since only two players played it last year) and it proves to be popular. If not, it's some other reason (that he'll fill in an answer better than I can here).

Malban, thank you for your request. VectorX is right: With every Vector War I choose some games which are played in two subsequent Vector Wars. My idea behind that is that people who join one Vector War after another have a bit of an advantage. I just looked at the game list and saw that we had V-Frogger in VW4 and VW5 and we had Karl Quappe in VW7. That's enough frogs and kaulquappes, already. So Karl Quappe is out and "Release!" is in. EDIT: Malban: I found a download link to a 7.5 MB file with source code and all stuff. Is there a download link for the binary, only?

Hi,
just added a "direct" download. This is the "np" variant, which will play on VecFlash/VecMulti.
VecFever owners have Release on the Fever anyway.

So to avoid confusion, does it make any difference whether we play download, Packrat, Vecfever of Sean Kelly 3.0 version?

Hi, the gamecode is exactly the same.
So in my opinion it should not matter which version you use. It is up to Helmut to decide in the end though.

looking really forward to the next vector war I love to play the games, but I'm really bad with high scores. hcmffm you mentioned Vecflash and Vecmulti, also Vecfever - there is Mateos flash cart (don't know if he still sells it)

... just added a "direct" download....
Great, thank you, Christopher! Hi, the gamecode is exactly the same. ... If the game code is the same then my opinion is the same: Use which ever version of Release ! that you like or have at hand. looking really forward to the next vector war I love to play the games, but I'm really bad with high scores. Cool that you'll participate, Nico. hcmffm you mentioned Vecflash and Vecmulti, also Vecfever - there is Mateos flash cart (don't know if he still sells it) Right, I'll add it.

Looking forward to revisiting Scramble and Starhawk this year. I'd like to see Release and Vector Patrol make the final homebrew selection. Can I suggest one of the games from Binarystar's 2014/2015 X-mas Cart line-ups? They're available for download.

Looking also forward to play and "meet" the other players again :-)
Oh yes, Scramble... I loved this game in arcade, and I love it on Vectrex. I'm wondering which score I will reach... If I remember correct: You can reach only level 5, then in the last (or in the middle?) section you will run out of fuel, because fuel deacrease too fast to reach the next fuel tank... So Scramble is not endless playable... As I said: If I remember correctly :-)
