Does anyone know of a good example of a read, write, erase for the AtariVox+ 32k memory (I believe 24lc256?) for the Vectrex?

Hi, I asked some time ago if there would be interest in supporting additional "save" features (additional to DS2430/DS2431, VecFever and the items supported by Kristof Tuts[Microchip / Atmel 24C02]). I especially asked for the VecVox - since it features consistent memory capabilities. The overall consensus was: "Nope" - so I never really looked further at it.
However depending on which road you are going with this... If you don't design your own PCB and e.g. use the ones from James Watt - or you plan on "publishing" via Packrat...
You migth as well use a DS2430/DS2431, like mentioned above. Example sources you can find in Vide... (easiest way - create a new project, check the correct checkboxes and do a code generation, than you have a working skeleton - and the usage is also emulated in Vide).
A working (but slightly confusingly implemented) "double save" (supporting VecFever and DS 2431) implementation can be found in Karl Quappe and Release.
With Vectorblade I go a different road, I designed an own PCB which uses a "flash" as memory, which I partly write to from the game... so in effect highscore saving is done on the same chip as the game runs on...
Cheers
Malban
PS Frank Busse - does also another variant to save code for his Bloxorz...
PPS If you use any of PB6 "savers" VecMulti and VecFlash will have problems. Might do a special binary for these - and/or a "button to skip" feature. Hmm.... I should do a DS2431 PCB variant which uses the IRQ - that would circumvent that...

Thanks for the advice. I have some things to think about.
Do you know how the PiTrex will handle saves? Just curious.

this reminds me I have to look at 243x code again, I couldn't get it working in my game. you might be getting an email soon Malban

I see a lot of people using PCBs from vectrexcarts.com but they don't seem to exist. Is there another way to get these boards or did everyone just stock up on them?
I have a bunch of PCBs from retroelectronik.com but they don't have a DS2430/DS2431 option. I'm going to have to wire it myself if I use those.

Or John, who took over the site from Mark, quit doing all Vectrex stuff when he joined Jersey Jack pinball. Don't know if anyone else is making them.

I ordered a few DS2431 to play with. Seems like a good option.
