Thought I'd put this here since it was originally released in '86, but it's been redone and re-released on various consoles and all. Pretty cool article about it: How Out Run changed video games foreverPretty neat how the creator of it wasn't much of a gamer but rented cars and filmed driving and all. Personally I never played this game until I got the Sega Master System version of it, then finally played it at an expo a couple of years ago.

I played this game at my local arcade. They had the sit down version and it was awesome. There's just no recreating the arcade experience today. I know that there are places that try but it'll never really be the same.

^Amen to that, especially with the several MAME-like machines/retrocades out there that a lot of them have. True, you can play several games on them but it still isn't the same, as the first time I ever heard of one of them it sounded utterly awesome. But then once you actually play a few games on them you'll find the screen size wouldn't be right on various games (if you can remember that far back), the controls aren't the original's, etc.
