Hmm... I've been playing the great Parajve Vectrex emulator quite a lot today, but for some reason Mine Storm is the only game that has overlay.
Is that how it should be? No overlay for Scramble, Berzerk, etc.
I have version 0.7.0.0

That's odd. I tried Berzerk and it was on there.
I've got the same version.

That's weird. I have "draw overlay" checked but nothing.
Should they be included as a default, or do you download them separately? I have file overlays.jvepak in \data\packs but no separate .PNG images.
Hmm...
Edit: They work now. It seems that when you use "Pick another ROM" the overlay doesn't load up. But when you start it from the selector it works. Weird.

That IS weird.
And yes, as you've probably figured out by now, the overlays are included by default.
Hopefully by the next version this will be addressed. Or actually I might pass this on along to the guy who made it later today.

It's no big deal.... wow those games are fantastic. Scramble, Narzod and Bedlam are still very good games by any standards.
I'm impressed of Thrust and Gravitrex too. Is there a Vectrex Battlezone clone available?

Just a very simple, unfinished demo; all you can do is move around, and that's about it. Two tanks appear. My guess is that it's only like 5-10% complete, more or less. I can send you the ROM for it if you want to just check out what little there is of it (you can at least see a picture of it here). And yes, Thrust and Gravitrex Plus are killer There's quite a few things missing from Gravitrex though that's on the cart but not the ROM.

Battlezone looks fantastic. That wouldn't be too difficult to execute on a Vectrex I think... it's rather simple game. Does Mine Storm 1 have the "stardust" in later levels? If it does, I can finally play that version. Now I remember why I always loved this system. Emulation can't replace the real Vectrex but it's a good substitute... Parajve is very good emulator, has the vector glow and everything. PS: Spike is still a killer game. Darnit!

Actually it's supposedly more difficult than you think to pull off, as ages ago on either the long-gone Vectrex forums or the news group, people brought up the old question if someone would do a Battlezone clone and they said you'd really have to know your stuff in order to do that. I just thought with the Vectrex being able to handle 3-D and scrolling with ease it wouldn't be too hard to do either but I guess that's not the case. Now I remember why I always loved this system. Emulation can't replace the real Vectrex but it's a good substitute... Parajve is very good emulator, has the vector glow and everything. Yep. Plus the current version also allows you to add the famous/infamous "Vectrex buzz" if you want

Thanks... I did. Good reviews... and I pretty much agreed with everything you wrote... except that Scramble should have a 10/10 rating. It's so much better than the arcade game and probably the best game for Vectrex. Now this reminds me.... I gotta find out if it's possible to play through the 4th loop. I recall it became impossible as you ran out of gas. The 3rd loop tunnels get really tiny and tight. PS: Spike is a legend... it's not much of a game but a cult classic... I can't stop smiling when I play it.

I gave it a 9/10, so we are close in our estimation of it.

It's a very close adaption, the U. F. O.s in the second sector are easier to hit because they don't move as fast and they're bigger (since the Vectrex screen is smaller) and the meteors after that move a tiny bit slower.
Other than a couple of other minor things (a slightly different trajectory when dropping a bomb), it's a very close port of the original.

I've been trying to add my own overlays to ParaJVE but can't seem to make it work. Maybe parabellum can help.

I finally was able to figure out how to display my own overlay design thanks to binarystar. Now I just need to separate it into channels so it displays as it should.

I finally was able to figure out how to display my own overlay design thanks to binarystar . Now I just need to separate it into channels so it displays as it should. I just tried to add a homebrew game and overlay to ParaJVE with medium success: The game started and the overlay is displayed, but the overlay is opaque and thus the game graphics cannot be seen. How can I make the overlay partly transparent? Do I have to use a PNG file with alpha channel? One can see in the configuration file that the overlay has various parameters/attributes: <overlay tx="0.005" ty="0.035" sx="0.975" sy="1.01" passes="1" mipmap="true" path="data/packs/myoverlay.png" /> Does somebody know what all the overlay parameters are for? My guesses: tx, ty: Offset x,y sx, sy: Scale x,y
