To start, I recently completed Vector Pilot through Stage 6 on each of the difficulty levels (easy, medium, hard) to unlock four different aircraft types (the starter, plus three extra). I decided to do a little research to see if there were maybe any other aircraft types available to unlock, because if you leave the splash screen going long enough, your character will appear as a Minestorm ship. While I couldn't find any information (Does anyone know the answer? Can you unlock more than 4 ships in Vector Pilot?), I did stumble accross an interesting comment on a Youtube video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlhMmCBkt1U&feature=player_embedded which states to unlock 'Tailgunner Mode', simply hold Up, 1, 2 and 3 from the GCE screen to the title screen. I tried this, fairly skeptically, and sure enough it works! Not only that, but it also unlocks the very wacky 'Reverse Mode'! Both styles of gameplay are interesting and fun, especially after all the work it took to complete Hard mode. Also, looking through Kristof's site, I noticed a few updates to the Vector Patrol site, most notably the Overlay!: www.kristofsnewvectrexgames.comli.com/

There are more than 4 aircraft.
It doesn't matter what difficulty setting you win on, (I have all aircraft and have never beaten difficult).
You simply get a new aircraft each time you beat stage 6, until you have them all. You get one for every one of the levels in the game.
I feel like there might even be one more than this, which I have not discovered, because of that random splash screen that shows sometimes after a game over with message "IT IS NOT EASY TO FIND ME".

Hey thanks for the tip. Fun stuff. As I am looking now I see "In Development" games Vectruss and Vectorion I hadn't noticed before. Were those already there? This would be the second Gyruss clone for Vectrex. Will be sweet to see it get the Kristof treatment though. I don't know about Exerion, never played or seen. ... Do you have Vectrexians? I've had Vector Pilot for a while and love it. But I don't much care for Galaxian. ... Can you sell a person who doesn't like Galaxian on Vectrexians?

As I am looking now I see "In Development" games Vectruss and Vectorion I hadn't noticed before. Were those already there? Yeah, they've been there for years. I just wonder what the deal is with moving Vector Patrol up, yet it still says it's going to be "cartridge #4". So what will three be then, or did he just forget to change that and it's going to be three after all? I don't know about Exerion, never played or seen. I never thought too much of it. It was cool to look at with the (early) paralax scrolling, but I didn't think it was very fun, and wasn't a big hit either, as it didn't really catch on.

So what will three be then, or did he just forget to change that and it's going to be three after all? I'm pretty sure that Vector Patrol will be Kristof's next final game and thus cartridge #3. I'll point Kristof too the wrong numbering. I don't know about Exerion, never played or seen. I never thought too much of it. It was cool to look at with the (early) paralax scrolling, but I didn't think it was very fun, and wasn't a big hit either, as it didn't really catch on. I just had a look at a video of Exerien (Arcade). Gameplay doesn't look too exciting, but it doesn't look like a bad shooter to me either. And vector graphics might work out well.

I don't believe I had ever seen Exerion before now. It may work with vector graphics. Looks like the challenge of the game is the control due to the physics involved.

You did glide a little during a game. It used the Zaxxon joystick, complete with the bulb on top lighting up once you fired a shot.

I just played Vector Pilot at a friend's house. I was pleasantly surprised to see it lives up to the hype. I have to buy a copy before it sells out. The overlay is particularly effective.
I was mistakenly prejudiced against Kristof's games I guess because they all start with the letters "Vect." If anyone, like me perceived the generic titling scheme as intimating a lack of effort, that is most definitely not the case!

I have to buy a copy before it sells out. I don't think you'll have to worry about that, as Vectrexians is still available after several years now.

I don't know if you can preorder "Vector Patrol" already (I guess not since it's not said that you can on Kristof's webpage), I only ordered "Vector Pilot" that was released nearly two years ago

Never mind, I misread that one Yes, Vector Pilot (italics since I can't read) is a top-notch game.

This patrolling pilot has confused me quite a bit, already. Good to read that others also have problems. :-)
