What the hell's that handheld retro console? How well does that d-pad work as compared to the original 2600 joystick?

That is an Atari approved retro handheld system. The D-pad works pretty well for most games, actually. Just don't try to use it to play paddle games!

Though my retro game collecting has slowed down a little, I did manage to add two Nintendo 64 games to my game rack: Tetrisphere and Excitebike 64. In regard to modern gaming, since my last post here, I have added a Nintendo Switch to the game room. My first purchases for that console were Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. I am a fan of the Smash series, and I'm liking the latest installment. I believe Nintendo is planning to expand the roster to 80 playable characters, an enormous number for a fighting game. Other than collecting for the Switch, I have been trying to fill out my PS4 collection and added the following games to my library: Mortal Kombat XL, Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Prey, Batman: Arkham Knight, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, BioShock: The Collection, and Tekken 7. Most of the games were purchased at a heavy bargain, some at Black Friday prices or lower. Also, Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it. My video game collection has expanded a bit due to the holiday: I have added Mega Man 11 (Switch), Grand Theft Auto V (PS4), and Dragon Quest XI (PS4) to the library. I suppose I'll be busy for a while.

I ended up buying an NES and SNES classic. I hacked the SNES with hackchi and it has tons of games on it now. Just can't get myself to buy the PS1 Classic though.

There's a way to play real carts on the SNES Mini also. It's a cool add on.
