Ninja Golf is a rather unique mix of Golf and Ninja fighting. The dragons at the end of each level are really nicely done!

Add one more NES acquisition to the list: Snake's Revenge by Konami. Riding on the success of Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear, which was ported to the NES in 1987, Konami released this unofficial sequel for the NES in 1990, adapting Kojima's characters and concepts to a totally new and original plot. I don't believe that Kojima was actually consulted during the creation of Snake's Revenge. It's typically considered one of the weaker games in the Metal Gear universe due to Konami taking liberties with the story here and there, resulting in cringe-worthy baddies like Vermon CaTaffy and Higharolla Kockamamie. (Imagine hearing David Hayter grumble any of these names in a Codec conversation.) Kojima would eventually be compelled to create an official sequel--and so, Metal Gear 2 on the MSX2 computer was born--and, unsurprisingly, it received favorable reviews across the board. I will say that Snake's Revenge has some of the catchiest music on the NES. Konami certainly didn't lack good composers.

Finally too the plunge and gt myself Arcade1up 12-in-1 cabinet. I swapped out the crappy spinner with the one that Glen Planamento sells on Amazon.

Very cool on that arcade! I keep seeing these at Wal-Mart and have to resist the temptation! Here are a few things that have arrived or I've purchased over the past few weeks...

Let me know how accurate the Activision Flashback is.

Whelp, I went to my local Goodwill on Monday and they had Midway Arcade Treasures for the Gamecube for only $2.99! Everything is included (Spy Hunter 2 coming out in 2003!) but one or more of the packaging deals had some black spots on it, which I didn't really think much of... ...until, right when I clicked on playing Satan's Hollow, it said there was a disc error; oh no! Upon turning it over, yep, black spots all over the place; God knows what those are, and we had none of the low-rated alcohol, as someone had said on a forum if you don't have a commercial cleaner made specifically for a gaming platform, then use a low-rated alcohol and Q-tips to clean discs. So, I went out and got that last night, and it looked better, but it said there was an error on just the title screen! I must've just moved the problem along elsewhere, but it could take several more cleanings...or never work at all. Then I remembered we've got all kinds of dvd cleaners and all, one of which said it cleans video games. Just one treatment of that and blammo, I was playing Satan's Hollow Graphics are a little off but the gameplay's pretty exact. Unfortunately I'm not sure if it's my controller (which I got used at a resale shop the other year) or the crummy controls that I've since found on reviews, but yeah, it's hard to aim with Gauntlet. That's actually not one I was going to play much anyway since I'm sick of the first 9 levels that I have on the Genesis version of Gauntlet 4 (then they go random after that) but I was just going to try them all out, at least. Marble Madness is also somewhat difficult but it has a slow and fast function, so maybe I should try slowing down my marble next time. I still got to part on the arcade version that I always get to (not real far since I was never real good at it) but only just barely. Robotron seems odd that you can only shoot in four directions but I haven't tried to see if I can remap the shooting onto one of the joysticks, but then this is on my Genny version of Williams Arcade's Greatest Hits anyway. Disappointed so far but then I haven't tried much. Other stuff might control better. Plus I only have one other 'cube title anyway.

What's the deal with the Vectrex book?
I played some more of the Midway Treasures last night. Getting a bit used to the controls and I feel a little better about it. I'm surprised how well Road Blasters works without the yoke controller, but then you're just moving left and right (steering's too sensitive though and it's hard to capture those balls). Tried Klax too. Sinistar's too damn dark though! Nuts.

It's a cool book that gives history of the console and covers all the games. Pretty nice. Saw it in Amazon by chance.

Far out on the Robotron controller! What system is that for?

It's meant for the Atari 7800 but can be used with any system that takes the connector. The red part can be taken out of the black portion and it can be used for any other games as well.
