I've seen this before. It works through emulation. I does fairly well for the Nintendo stuff but has some issues with the Sega games according to reports I've read. It's still amazing to see one console that can play games from so many different systems!

It hasn't been released yet, so I don't know about these reviews.
The GBA compatibility was one of the most highly anticipated features I think. This was also supposed to be a more sturdy build than previous knock-off consoles.
... Personally I'd much rather have the GB/GBC/GBA by themselves in a much smaller sized console, with NES/SNES controller ports, and NOTHING ELSE.

No, but there are Retron N1 to N4 already out there, so people have experience with the prior units made by this company. Everyone is hoping the got things right with this console.

I feel like we've talked about this before, like when Retron 5 was first announced. ...
I don't think there ever was a Retron 4, and that they called this 5 because it has 5 five cart slots or emulates 5 systems or something.
They definitely put more into this version and had the intention of making it a major improvement on previous models in almost every aspect. It was originally advertised to have a GUI and ability to save any game state, remap buttons etc. Not sure if all of this survives in the final product, but the new pictures look almost exactly like the prototypes. The console itself has a more sturdy design than previous models I think.
I think Hyperkin did a better job with the Supaboy than they did with previous Retrons, so maybe they will get it right with this 5th one.
It's not EXACTLY what I want, but I'll probably end up getting one of these.
... How sweet would it be if these clone companies could be convinced to make a VECTREX?!?

^I'm sure that'd be pretty tough to do. They'd have to advertise anywhere and everywhere possible to be able to sell enough of them to make it worthwhile.
After all, supposedly that's what the Vectrex Regeneration was going to be, which was a plug and play unit to hook up to a tv. Or maybe a different team and vision went into the VR app altogether, I don't know, but supposedly that was what it was going to be the first time around.

Ye, of course it is an extreme longshot. But I don't imagine the Vectrex Regen folks had the capabilities of these clone companies to manufacture electronics, in China. The Vectrex shouldn't be any more difficult to clone than the NES etc, except for the monitor obviously. But I guess that that is a major exception.
We need to find some super star pro athlete who is a Vectrex fan and convince him to make a philanthropic investment. Certainly Joey Votto could afford to finance this project, and he'd still be richer than Pete Rose afterwords.

We need to find some super star pro athlete who is a Vectrex fan and convince him to make a philanthropic investment. A Vectrex commercial was found in the last year that had some pro racer in it from back in the day. That'd make a nice tie-in with Hyperchase Just as long as it isn't someone like Tiger Woods telling of how he was into the "ancient" Atari 2600, where some scam reared its ugly head afterwords. We certainly wouldn't need anything like that!

Heh, yeah but those guys are not investing though they are getting PAID to lend their faces to the products. I don't want Joe Votto's face, I want his money. ... Was just an example though, (and an impractical joke) - that guy has a contract worth a quarter of a billion dollars! Was also alluding to the disproportionate comparison to yesterday's athletes. Baseball players are financial Masters of the Universe in our time, and they are not typically as frivolous and foolish as many other athletes who somehow blow all their money within a few years of retirement.

If they even MAKE it to retirement...

It's not EXACTLY what I want, but I'll probably end up getting one of these. You're right, the Supaboy is the crowning achievement of Hyperkin's retro console line-up. I think they were aware of some of the flaws of their earlier consoles--imperfect sound emulation and lack of support for certain NES and SNES titles--and have reengineered the Retron to be a more comprehensive clone. The Game Boy and GBA support this time around will be a great incentive for fans of 2D side-scrollers and adventure games. Since I already own all the consoles individually and I'm not looking to condense my game room, I'll probably pass this one up. ... How sweet would it be if these clone companies could be convinced to make a VECTREX?!?
