I would like to test an idea for developing 3d games.
I dindn't have many chances to play videogames as a child (I am not a gamer), so the only 3d game I am aware of is Battlezone.
Nevertheless, as there are other developers working on this port, I woul like to try with a different one.
Please, could someone advice me about vintage 3d games that would be nice to play with a vectrex.

I wouldn't call Tac Scan 3D.
There are a decent amount of people interested in Red Baron. I'd like to see a Star Fox type game myself.

BBC Micro had a good space trading game called Elite which was 3d wireframe.

^I'd think that with Elite being mentioned and that there weren't a lot of 3-D vector games that haven't been done yet, probably not.

I have tested Red Baron in the MAME emulator and... I feel it is a bit boring? Or perharps I have not understood the game

Everything's better on a real machine. Definitely would be a great game to play with my Top Fire Joystick.

Red Baron is essentially a scrolling shooter with a 3D perspective...

Yeah, Red Baron is pretty boring imo. It was developed at the same time as Battlezone and IIRC(?) it should have came out before it but was deemed not good enough by Atari and so Battlezone was finished and sold first, with a Red Baron kit sold to operators later.

A very popular game Star Wars, Atari Tac/scan was a nice suggestion .. It would be especially sweet to see 3D Imager support for a Vectrex version, to get all the colors from the original. .. Probably there are serious licensing issues reproducing anything Star Wars related, thus this game is always absent from the other Apps and collections of Atari games. |
