I was at Funspot this past weekend and played a crapload of Space Fury. I wound up posting the 4th highest score of the tournament with 68K. Johnny Mac posted the highest score with 206K. This is a game that demands poise and concentration. I would love to have this game in my collection. Here's the leaderboard from Aurcade: aurcade.com/games/format.aspx?id=251

This is something you have to play in person to really appreciate it, since the alien's voice is usually screwed up in MAME. It was definitely an interesting reverse take (i. e. shoot smaller objects before they form big ones, rather than vice versa) on Asteroids and should've done a little better than it did, as it wasn't a huge hit. I played it at a few places back in the day though, and a friend of mine got the Coleco port (not bad, and they did an interesting raster version of the filled-in alien!).

Agreed about vector games not being faithfully represented in MAME. I used to have 2-3 Tempests (w/ Tubes ROM to swap in & out), SW (w/ ESB kit), & Asteroids over the decades.
Eventually, practically won out & I built a giant MAME cabinet & have no more dedicated cabs. Tempest was the last dedicated game that I sold off. But, before I did, I set up my MAME cab & the Tempest side-by-side & tweaked the MAME vector/graphics settings to the point where I made the MAME image look as close to the real thing as possible.
But it's still not the same...
