I don't have much information about the Vectrex Color but I have read in husshed whispers if the video game crash had not happenend it might have been released.
Maybe it is just fantasy but I hope it was a real project.
Myself I have sight problems when it comes to viewing color objects. So I would have really appreciated owning one.
No more trying to track down the overlays. I also think it would have helped the homebrew scene now.
So to get to my question.
Are you glad it wasn't released so that it keeps the Vectrex a unique system or was this a major gaming loss?
If anyone has any more information I hope you could please share it with the rest of us?

Guess this answers my question. Sorry I should have dug deeper.
Found this link. home.earthlink.net/~jmorg/vectrex/VecColor.htm

Personally I think the only chink in a Vecys armour is it's overlay. A colour Vectrex would have wiped the floor with all opposition. IMO.

Are you glad it wasn't released so that it keeps the Vectrex a unique system or was this a major gaming loss? I don't feel either way about it: it wasn't a "major gaming loss" since the Vectrex wasn't everywhere anyway. A color Vectrex would've just been the next step up and the original would still be seen as a unique system since there was no other like it. It would've been neat to have, plus I'm sure that, if they were to come out with one, it'd be a bit of an improvement over the original, i. e. no buzzing and a better processor so there wouldn't be as much slowdown that plagued several games.

Bumping up this one since it's the closest one to an even older post I had on a YouTube video:
I put up a couple of comments about color vectors and got this e-mail saying that someone had replied to one of them, after all these years and years:
A color Vectrex was about to be released to the market just prior to the video game crash. Too bad it was never mass-produced.
Uh, no it wasn't. Makes you wonder where people get this "information" from.

Oh, you know how things get altered as they get repeated. It probably went from "there was a prototype in development" to "it was about to be released."

Yeah, good point. You never know with things but I'd think at least we would've heard about something like this after all these years!

Yep. I did get to see what I believe is one of the two prototypes at CGE in 2014.
