I'm looking for some more information about this release.
I know it came with that gorgeous overlay -- was it also released in a GCE-style box? Any idea how many were made?
I'd love to pick this up in its original packaging, or at least with the overlay.

Speaking of which: VectrexMad, somewhere down the pipeline this might be a nice overlay to reproduce. Not sure if I'm in the minority here, but this one looks really unique, really cool to me.

If no one else posts, I'll do some looking around, but I know there was a limited edition Vec Sports Boxing, which I assume came with the overlay but I'm not sure. Don't know how many copies were made either.

www.revival-studios.com/?page=57th photo on the page, under 'Modern Games - Limited Editions'. I believe it is the box between Vectrexians and Logo (definite GCE-style box packaging). In the inventory lists, in says 'xx/13', meaning only 13 copies of this limited edition exist. Martijn's collection is very informative!

Oh, wow, that is a limited release! Fury, if you see this, did your re-release come with the overlay?

Not sure what you're asking there, if you think Fury did that game, which he didn't. The only game of his with an overlay was Warrior, which has only had one release so far.
Manu, the person who made Vec Sports Boxing, doesn't have an account on here (that I know of).

Darryl, b bierman ghoul is referring to the reference on Martijn's page to a Fury re-release of Vec Sports Boxing, and yes it did happen at the request of Good Deal Game (the producer of VSB). I made up the games for GDG, and they sold them at their website, shows, etc. Scroll down and you'll see the box art that I created for the re-release: www.gooddealgames.com/inventory/Vectrex.htmlb bierman ghoul, there was no overlay with the Fury re-release. Tsk, tsk Darryl. If you're going to moderate the Vector Gaming Forum, you'd best start doing your homework ;D

Ha ha. At least I got the overlay part right I hadn't heard about you doing the re-release. That's a bit interesting.

The reason why it happened is simply because Manu stopped producing the games. At that time, I routinely wholesaled my titles to GDG for resale (I've stopped doing this since Continuum), and Michael requested a similar release of VSB so that he could continue to sell the game. GDG has full rights to the game, I believe.

It's always good when people do that, like with Dondzila taking over Shaker's inventory of games that he was selling.

Thanks for the info, fury!
With just thirteen overlays out there, I'd say this would be a great candidate for reproduction.

Greetings, I believe I have the Photoshop file of the overlay still somewhere. The 13 special editions and boxes I made were made by lots of hand cutting and gluing by me. Still have my 'prototypes' in some box somewhere around the house too. Feel free to reproduce them if it's okay with Michael from GDG too. As long as it can't be confused with the 13 'originals' when someone sells them on eBay . Manu

^They might, unfortunately! Actually not, now that I think of it. Unless someone wants to cut out green cardboard and glue it onto some transparencies
