Highscore list has been updated. VectorX is leading. ___ 50tbrd: Great to see you in this year's Vector War, again! PYVD and Vector War forced me to play the Vectrex. Oh darn! Yes, poor me! And THAT'S the way to put up an entry in a gaming contest: when your planet blew up and you used your last smart bomb. Sounds like tough fighting till the bitter end. I wished I did better in Protector but I play too seldom to get used to the four buttons. And the game is fast and difficult, I think. In your screenshot it says "Second edition", are there two editions of Protector and what is their difference, then?

I played N.E.L.S. which I think is a pretty good shooter. The ship upgrading is a good addition and adds variety to the game. N.E.L.S. Score: 1018 I've included the N.E.L.S. slim cartridge in the picture, apart from that you cannot really tell that it's N.E.L.S. (Resetting the Vectrex will delete the highscore).

Like with the original Defender, it's very difficult (to me, and most gamers, I think) to be consistent with that. I was aiming for a score of at least 80,000 (not that Chainsaw won't beat it quickly, but it was my goal) but I couldn't get anywhere over 65,000 after many plays the other day. With this one I just suddenly got it in two plays. Strange. In your screenshot it says "Second edition", are there two editions of Protector and what is their difference, then? None, except that's the unlimited edition that came with Y. A. S. I The original had Spike Goes Down as the unlockable bonus game. Either version of Protector is valid; I don't see why you'd make only the original version of Protector count since only 100 copies were made. All of the ones with Protector/Y. A. S. I say "Second Edition" on that one screen.

Looks like I had overseen the "second edition" all the time. I've no intention to forbid specific game versions unless their is a real good reason.

I came out and many of us were stunned something could look almost exactly like the raster original on the Vectrex, I felt really dumb once I realized with the opening Vectrex bootup screen that all of the letters on there were dots and the dashes that move around in the rectangular pattern weren't the crisp vector lines either, yet all of that was there since the very beginning (duh!).

After a few busy days, I found some time to play more in the Vector War! Mine Storm - 155,670 {rounding to 150,000 to meet the maximum limit.} NELS - 1106 {very addictive game play! Challenging, but the learning curve is rewarding to see new enemies and get more upgrades} Omega Chase - 3415 {I've been playing Omega Race on the Vic 20 a lot recently, so it's nice to see this port in the competition. Just wish the center barrier were always visible during gameplay} Spike - 19100 {I need more practice on this one} V-Frogger - 21190 {nice to see this in the competition again this year, always a fun challenge!} [mind the argon clock I used to light the score code]

Blitz: 13 Spike: 15500 Star Trek: 32200 Still using the original controller. I've never really played much Blitz but its better than I thought. Spike seemed pretty easy to me. I expect scores to go much higher on this.

Hi wazzal, nice to meet you again here :-) And hi all others that I forgot to greet :-) Mhhh VectorX, I very like Defender and Protector, but I hate the controls of Protector. Why it isn't possible to change the ship / flight direction just with pushing the Joystick left/right. I hate to do this with the button... I think your score is out of danger... I hope on Wednesday my N.E.L.S. cartridge will arrive, that I also can participe with this nice shooter game... Here some new scores: Spike Score: 56600 Mine Storm Score: 167600 (made Hara-Kiri then, because allowed maximum of 150'000 reached) Omega Chase Score: 6160 Tour de France Score/Time: 01:06:48 (2 screenshots, because first one is not sharp)

Highscore list has been updated. Chainsaw is leading closely followed by VectorX. Wazzal is the third to qualify. ___ Chainsaw: Impressive Omega Race score. .. but I hate the controls of Protector. Why it isn't possible to change the ship / flight direction just with pushing the Joystick left/right. I hate to do this with the button... ... The controls of Protector are just like Defender. I've no idea why they did the controls like that but I guess Defender isn't supposed to be a simple game.

Hope that your copy of NELS arrives soon, chainsaw! NELS - 4463 [Made it to level 91! It took about 45 minutes] Omega Chase - 6100 Dark Tower - 21925 [first time actually playing this game] V-Frogger - 34650 [this beats my score from last year ^_^] [also, a green overlay is much easier on the eyes!]

Highscore list has been updated. VectorX is leading (99.7%), followed by Chainsaw (97.9%). Wazzal is catching up (87.6%). ___ wazzal: Level 91 in N.E.L.S.? Wow! Are there still new enemies? "Der Luchs" did a really good job with N.E.L.S.. VectorX: Great Omega Race score, VectorX! Good that your score didn't get lost.
