There are still problems with getting the USB-opening into the case by the local company I've tried to use for the laser-cutting until now. And I really didn't like the printed labels initially so a completely different, very simple b/w backup-redesign has been printed. This one I do like a lot actually so I'll probably use it. So.. all hinges on the cases in the moment, Thomas Sound like a perfect usage case,,, for a 3D printed case. (sorry, I just could not keep from being punny today )

Right now I'm not sure if I should get the VecMulti, or just wait until the VecFever gets released... VecFever seems more user-friendly and it comes with some nice extra's, so I'll probably wait

I'd love one of these cards, I'd like to try some homebrew development and I can hardly believe that there are no simple off-the-shelf solutions to getting some code into a cart via a serial or USB cable from a PC. Are there any open source designs out there I could make myself?

Are there any open source designs out there I could make myself? there is www.vectrex.hackermesh.org/index.php/en/mvbd-mvmc-3/introduction-mvbd-mvmc with a few caveats (in my experience I guess the newer versions are bit more forgiving) you probably don't need to test on hardware for a bit* anyway just start coding and testing in VIDE vide.malban.de * unless you are some insane wizard who has been coding 8-bit demos for 30 years.

Well richard's vec multi is a pretty nice cart I don't regret it at all, I might get a VecFever As well. All the multicarts have there pros and cons. Mateos carts looks like I am planning to get one for my lynx and possibly vectrex as well. Richard's carts are reasonably priced and he goes the extra mile when it comes to supporting his products! So if you want to wait for VecFever for the extra features that great or buy the multicart now, I don't think you regret it either way!

Thanks for your ideas, guys, it's much appreciated. Actually, I do want to test with real hardware, as I want to use serial comms and would maybe add a 6850 to the Vectrex. That mvbd option looked a bit fiddly for what I want to do, but it is a good price. Back in the day I would code on a PC and cross-compile to 64180 (Z80), then burn real 27c256 EPROMs. Then we got a Dataman S4 so I could emulate following a 10 second download and press one button. Then we built-in a flash ROM and just needed to download. The Richard H. VecFlash looks closest to what I'm looking for, from the picture I found on the wiki, it has a flash ROM and a pic to program it onboard, but they're not available now. The VecFever looks like in could the future, but it seems to have hit a stop with no further info. I did find a place retroelectronik.com/en/recherche?tag=vectrex that has some nice extender cards with a ZIF socket, I guess I could use that and find a regular 27256 emulator, or just use the bag of EPROMs I probably still have with the programmer I haven't used for at least 10 years. I guess that's what makes this little hobby good fun :-)
