The Atari 2600 community has twinkied out, so I now turn to the Vectrex community... Some info on GameDay 2012: Here's what I want to do for GameDay 2012 Vectrex peeps: I want to select one title to compete on for the weekend - I'm thinking Vector Pilot, the 2012 recipient of Retrocade Magazine's Braumeister Award for homebrew of the year. If you have a web cam and a UStream or Twitch.TV account, I want to setup a page on RetrocadeMagazine.com with all the concurrent live streams embedded on the page. I could have a link for donations and of course all the scores will be tracked on the Retrocade Magazine forums. Perhaps a prize for the player posting the top score if I can get a sponsor. The layout would look similar to this: gamingworldwide.org/bro-off/Who's interested?

Now these are the kind of responses I like to hear!
For a Web cam, I am using a Microsoft VX 3000 - the same model camera Tim McVey uses for his Nibbler marathons and the same one I used for my Star Castle million stream. You can get those for under $20.
Another option could be that we could stream games that players have mastered for world record attempts. For example, I may stream Star Castle and up the ante to 2 million.
And maybe it's not a world record attempt - maybe just beating the top score on the Retroboards or Vectrex.co.uk for a particular title.
In any event, the most important think is to do something us players will enjoy doing. The streaming aspect of it engages people to the site where they can watch us play, links for people to make donations and to display banners of partners.
Aside from an investment in a web cam, this stuff costs us ZERO coinage: registration with streaming providers like UStream and Twitch.TV are free and registration with my forums to post the scores is free also.

I'm thinking the way to go with this is to have gamers play whatever Vectrex games they want that weekend.
I talked to Mason Cramer who is interested in playing Minestorm for the world record and I'd like to stream his channel on RetrocadeMagazine.com.
If anyone else would be interested in gaming that weekend and you have a channel on UStream or Twitch TV let me know. Also, if you submit scores that weekend to the Retroboards on the Retrocade Magazine forums, I'll post score updates through the social media outlets.
Cool?

Sounds good, I don't, and can't really stream myself playing, but I'll try to update your retroboards with some killer scores that weekend for sure.

I talked to Mason Cramer who is interested in playing Minestorm for the world record and I'd like to stream his channel on RetrocadeMagazine.com. Where in the world does he live/what version does he have? Is it the overseas version that keeps going indefinitely (I assume), or the later U. S. version that goes up to level 89?

Yeah I'm fairly sure the overseas version of Mine Storm and Mine Storm 2 are the same game.

He's from the States if that tells you anything... Here's what I'm going to do...for GameDay weekend if you break any high scores on the Vectrex Retroboards you'll get 500 forum tokens. If you break the high score and that score is the highest score placed that weekend you'll earn an additional 750 tokens. If you place a score on a Vectrex title that beats a threshold score on that game you will win 250 tokens. Here are the games I am currently tracking www.retrocademagazine.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=23If there are any games you want me to add, let me know which ones along with the game settings.

I'm buying Vector Pilot, if I'm not busy on 29-30 June I'm in. But come 1 July, I'm on the Carnival Magic with my son and one of his friends, for 7-days of fun.

I just got word that GameDay has been postponed to a later date. So, when that announcement comes I'll let everyone know.
