2048 would make a good homebrew addition to the war as well. Its available for download without Vecfever.

Saturday next week the Vector War will start - a bit less than a week to go, now. Looking also forward to play and "meet" the other players again :-) Oh yes, Scramble... I loved this game in arcade, and I love it on Vectrex. I'm wondering which score I will reach... If I remember correct: You can reach only level 5, then in the last (or in the middle?) section you will run out of fuel, because fuel deacrease too fast to reach the next fuel tank... So Scramble is not endless playable... As I said: If I remember correctly :-) Great that you will participate, again, Chainsaw! I remember that you mentioned something like a fuel problem in Scramble years ago. 2048 would make a good homebrew addition to the war as well. Its available for download without Vecfever. Right, that's a good candidate - I forgot about that one. And RushHour is another one I have to add to the list of games for the Vector War. Behind the scenes various preparations are on-going: Three special prizes are in preparation - details will follow, soon.

Looking forward to this years Vector War. I especially like doing the homebrews. Unfortunately I lost track of time and only ordered Stramash Zone recently so may not get it in time for the competition. I will definitely be able to do the other games since I have a vecmulti and vector patrol. As for as originals I'm looking to see how well I can do in bedlam. Game gets crazy and intense and I enjoy it but I may suck at it compared to others. I love shmups and would love Scramble but I always hit one part where I can't help but crash into the level.
Anyway, I look forward to playing with everyone again. Good luck and lets have some fun competition on the Vectrex.

jbrodack: Great to have another veteran around. Thank you for your kind words. I assume your crash in Scramble is in the "labyrinth". Make sure to fly as much on the right side whenever you can. In larger "rooms" fly diagonally (left and down/up) to reach the next thin tunnel without crashing. Bedlam is indeed a bit of a problem. From what I've read that the game gets "crazy" whenever you have 6 or more lifes. Perhaps people can post ways to work around this.

Vectrex fan Tony Lindberg has donated a very special prize: The Machinist's Vectrex visual upgrade prize kit. It's a kit of Vectrex controller parts all hand-made in Sweden and of high quality materials. Thank you very much, Tony, for donating this very special and unique prize!

They are all made in Sweden, but hardly qualifies as handmade, as I used a CNC mill to do most of the machining. They were drawn by hand in the CAD software though. /Tony Edit: I include free international shipping in my prize kit too. So prize option D needs an * in the first post.

Very cool!
What happened to the unusably slippery teflon knob? I guess it got fumbled and is now under some unmovable piece of furniture somewhere.
I could probably do with a new reset button at some point, developing directly on the Vectrex means I'm press reset a lot and could wear it out!

Preparing for the War!
I found following old scores (VW I - I could not find any score information):
The colored scores are previously achieved scores on previous Vector Wars. So you know what to expect...
Anybody know the old SSI game "Warlords II"? - I quote:
"Let the war begin!"

Right, prepare for the competition! Thanks for this overview of highscores during the past Vector Wars, Malban. I'll pass you on the missing results of Vector War I. During the past Vector Wars, high, I'd even say very high and great scores have been achieved and there are excellent players around like coleco1981, VectorX, or Chainsaw. But please don't be scared by these highscores and don't forget: The Vector War is for both beginner and expert players. In the Vector War you can compete with other players.] It's also a good opportunity to play the Vectrex games more extensively and get to know new games.

Two more days to go...
This year something unexpected happened: Several people donated things for the Vector War VIII and helped to make special and unique prizes. Therefore prizes will change a bit and it's very likely that there will be two random prizes this year.
On Friday night, I'll add the threshold scores for homebrew games. And the final list of prizes will be announced. Stay tuned.

Great, VectorX and Darrin that you both will participate, again. Let's see how many new players will participate this year - a mixture of beginners, experts, new players and veterans would be great. And: The more participants, the more fun!

Score in Release
The score of the current game is displayed for the complete GameOver sequence - but it lasts (if not interrupted) "only" for about 25 seconds.
This is the only "place" where the "current" score of the last game can be photographed. Otherwise only the Highscore page can be photogrpahed - but you can't determine the last game there for certanty....
Just for Info.
Regards
Malban
