I'm thinking of re-doing the second incarnation of my Vec-wars game (which was never finished enough to release a bin of), but I want to make it dule stick controlled. One stick for movement, the other for 360 degree firing. I had some much impruved movement routines and formations for the enemys, but it just dosn't work with the control system of the original (Stick moves, four buttons fire in different directions), I tryed using the buttons to move and the stick to fire, but it still doesn't work. So two sticks, I thought... Until I saw the price people are asking for a Vectrex controller nowadays What happened to Vectrex hardware prices? There through the roof now! So,after all that grumble, is there an alternative controller I can use to approximate the use of a second Vectrex joystick? Right now I'm not sure if this is a deal-breaker for me writing this game or not...

If you plug a couple old Atari 2600 controllers in to a Vectrex, you could read them as twin sticks as UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT maps to buttons 1-4. As long as you don't need any buttons, that ought to be a decent and affordable setup (though you'd need to shave the ends a bit to fit the Vectrex ports).
