Star Castle 24,490D-Type : I edited your post, as your last several pics weren't appearing. There was something extra in that code, something about a "redirect" in those. fruktodlaren : The default high for Mine Storm is 150,000. Not everyone has a Vectrex that can get past level 13.

^Yeah I really can't do well at that game either, it makes me wonder if I'm doing something wrong. It takes me a while just to be able to place.

"If a player doesn't use an original Vectrex controller for some reason he/she should please indicate this when posting his/her first scores."
So are other controllers like a Vectorcade allowed, as long as there is no autofire circuitry? Also do we have to use the same controller for all games? I'm using an original controller for now, shown in all of my pics as well... but if others can/will be using homemade controllers... I'd much rather use a Vectorcade for all games (except hyperspasm ;-D ).

Bug confirmed: If you finally die in level 10, the highscore display will incorrectly read "HIGH 0" instead of "TOP 10". Also, if you finally die in level 100 (anybody?), then the highscore display will incorrectly read "TOP 00" instead of "HI 100".
Helmut, please accept such screenshots as valid results, because such readings can only occur if those results indeed have actually been achieved. That was a classic off-by-one bug. The game play is not affected at all, only the highscore display, and only for levels 10 and 100. I have fixed this. A new version is now available for download on the Vec-Man web page. The version number will say "RELEASE 2-1", so you can also check this if you do not know which binary version you have. Please fetch the new version.
Or just don’t die in level 10 or in level 100 Cheers and lots of fun to all Vector War players Peer

Wow, thanks for confirming so quickly Peer! I had to die twice on level 1 just to confirm I wasn't seeing things
I have some more scores to post! I'm not sure about Dark Tower, minimum score says "1.500" ... is that 1500? Also I played Minestorm II from the free binaries zip file, and I must say it's very easy compared to the original Minestorm built into the Vectrex. Several easy levels repeat and level 13 is not even 3 magnetic bombs. I just stopped playing at level 15 due to being over 150,000. Star Castle's end screen is not really identifying, and the only way I found to show it correctly was using Sean Kelly's multicart, and pressing reset after the game was over. This ensures that you come back to the game title screen with the high score shown. If you use Richard's VecFlash, it will reset to the menu and the bad thing with that is you can't trust that the score from Star Castle didn't on Star Castle's title screen didn't come from a previous game, since VecFlash doesn't reset the high score counter when it it's main menu or before loading the next game. I see why it doesn't, but it's misleading when you have to capture the title screen. I think Cosmic Chasm is the same, can't remember now... but I also used Sean Kelly's multicart. Space Frenzy has a similar problem, and you have to take a picture at the very end of the game before it resets if using VecFlash, since I couldn't play this on SK's multicart. Ok time to sleep... see you tomorrow zzz... playvectrex-cosmic-chasm-14755.jpgplayvectrex-darktower-6900.jpgplayvectrex-minestorm2-150000.jpgplayvectrex-space-frenzy-9220.jpgplayvectrex-star-castle-8900.jpgplayvectrex-veccybird-17

Highscore list has been updated. fruktodlaren, Chainsaw, and playvectrex have qualified. Current top3 ranking: 1. playvectrex (600pts) 2. fruktodlaren (460pts) 3. Chainsaw (378pts) ___ This morning I said to my wife that I was wondering how many players have joined the Vector War during the European night. Now that I see all those score submissions I'm quite impressed. That's really great! It's 10 participants and 4 of them have qualified, already. playvectrex: • Thank you for playing all your scores with score code, again. With "original Vectrex controller" the original Vectrex controller is meant. I know it's tempting and e.g. for Veccy Bird you really need a precise controller and for Hyperchase a paddle would help but that would be unfair to those who own got a better controller. BTW: Many games use button 4 for firing so often button 4 is the button which "collapses". Veccy Bird supports all buttons so I found that it's a good idea to try out different buttons and see which one works best. • Minimum score of Dark Tower is 1500. • Thank you for your hints for photographing / displaying highscores. Some games give you a really hard time... @all: Peer has reacted immediately (Thank you, Peer!) and provided a new version 2-1 of Vec-Man. Please download the latest version 2-1 of Vec-Man from the Vec-Man webpage and use that one if possible to see scores displayed properly. I've updated the ZIP archive with all VW 9 binaries. Vec-Man scores/levels "0" or "00" will be also valid. Depending on the game taking a photograph of one's highscore can be difficult. In previous post, playvectrex has posted some hints how to do that successfully.

@helmut: Thanks for the daily updates. Is it possible to see the separate points and games that makeup each players total (max 600), maybe in a matrix? That's quite a useful tactical insight towards the end and let's people check if the scoring is calculated correctly, though I'm sure it is :-). (However, I appreciate it's extra work it you haven't planned for it.)

About "playing during the European night": I used the hour that we had "more" this night, because most European countries had this night the summer/winter time change: We tourned our clocks back from 3am to 2am in the night. But anyway, I slept too less now, but playing Vectrex is more fun than sleeping :-)
Btw: I must read again, how the new ranking system / score system works (and maybe also how often you will update which table). It seems you sometimes only update the scores, and not the whole ranking tables? (f.e. Star Castle, Veccy Bird etc.
Annnnd: Wow, really great scores that some players got in some games - that's impressive!

First scores of mine.
VecMan 36. Half of the deaths are due to my joystick going down instead of left, or vice/versa. Dunno if I'd have gotton further though, I died around 10 times on 36 - it's possible, but you defenitly need luck :-).
Perhaps a secondary score ranking? In between I had Max lives = 17/17 :-)...
Minestorm: 150000 (or more)
This is the one I trained for. Berzerk 12200
One of these days, I will patch that one to not flicker so much...
And I honestly don't know how I got that one... luck I suppose, its not really my game. Hyperchase 102.6

Highscore list has been updated. Moyu and arquillos have qualified. Current top3 ranking: 1. arquillos (600pts) 2. playvectrex (530pts) 3. fruktodlaren (378pts) Please note that the style of the Highscore list has changed a bit. Points per game and rank can be seen in one table, now. Points awarded per game are calculated a bit differently, now. ___ fruktodlaren : Threshold score of Hyperchase is quite old and it might be too high. I'll try out Hyperchase tonight and might reconsider the threshold score, then. @moyu: Well done! Good that you succeeded in registering! D-Type : Thank you for your suggestion. I've changed the layout and contents of the highscore list. Do you see all the info that you want to see, now? I've sent you an e-mail for discussing the point system. Chainsaw : The "European night" with the 25th hour in a day. And I agree: Really good scores, already! Always the complete highscore list is updated. Please note that a player's score only count if the player has qualified (i.e. submitted scores for six or more games). arquillos : Wow - that's good scores and a jump to #1! Malban : Great Berzerk score! I guess loosing 17 lives in level 36 of Vec-Man let you go berzerk!
