I saw this in the Vectrex group in FB, so I thought I'd share it. There's a new game for the Vectrex called USA Zombie Apocalypse. The game is CIB and comes with two different PCB's that are either black or red with LED lights. You can learn more about the game and order it here: www.ar-vectrex.com/

Cool to hear another horror themed or zombie themed homebrew Vectrex game from the same guy whom did the Wipeout based homebrew Vectrex game as well. It seems that this USA Zombie Invasion game would be better suited as a bonafide Vectrex lightgun, hmmm? I went ahead and order one "black" colored USA-ZI set to check it out for myself. So slick to see a zombie themed control panel artwork to top it off. Do the pair of red LEDs on the USA-ZI cartridge fade in & out in overall brightness from time to time or are they constantly illuminated all the time when the Vectrex console is powered up?
And will Ronald make/release a better improved Wipeout vector homebrew sequel? I think that'd be ace.

LED's constant on. No fading or control by software. No self-controlled fading or flashing

I got my copy of the game today. Unfortunately, the box was squashed by the post office some.

How's the gameplay of this USA Zombie Apocalypse? Would a dedicated Vectrex light-gun setup be better rather than with the 8-way joystick control panel setup?

The joystick is pretty responsive from my brief playtime. I wasn't too enthused about the 1 hit death and button 4 being both fire and quit while in the menu. I can see some people quitting a game that's pretty far along.

Trying to fit this game in to a box protector has been a real pain. It's just a hair too big (width wise) to fit in a standard Vectrex box protector, but you can split the protector's seam down the side and reglue it, adjusting for the extra width of the box, OR get a Neo Geo AES box protector, which is fine width wise, but will have gap, depth wise. Kind of a 'no-win' situation, but what are you going to do.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hmm, looks like it needs its own, unique box protector.

Hmm, looks like it needs its own, unique box protector. Nah, just get some from Retroprotection.com 😉 It's a bit of a tight fit but they work without modification. You could use a Neo Geo AES box protector but there will be a huge gap on the front and back.. It's a little big depth wise. Either one will work though. 🙂
