Interesting. I'll see if I can test it out.

Interesting. I'll see if I can test it out. Great, thanks!
Since I guess that Rotor is a rather untypical Vectrex game, I'd love to learn everybody's opinion about it.
Cheers, Peer

The time limit for the very first level played the first time feels a bit short. In the next levels it feels more comfortable, only time wise. Maybe i was just too much contentrated in listening to the haunting melody. +1 for exactly 42 levels.

Maybe i was just too much contentrated in listening to the haunting melody. +1 for exactly 42 levels. Hehe, since you are a proficient programmer, you get no compassion from my side here Level 1 is pure Bubble-Sort. Any programmer should be able to solve this without even thinking whilst sound asleep Ok, enough kidding. My sincere thanks for your feedback!
Maybe some general words regarding the philosophy of the game design. You might have noticed that the game can be started at any level. There are no "achievements" or "unlocking of levels". This is intentional. For those who enjoy such type of puzzles, the game should be as much fun and as enjoyable as possible. Just like the different types of Rubiks puzzles (3x3, 4x4, 5x5, 3x4, Pyraminx, etc.), each Rotor level can be logically solved by applying a certain strategy (meaning by following appropriate algorithms). The challenge is to figure out such a strategy. This is what training mode is intended for. Just select the type of puzzle (the level) you like to solve, and try to find a strategy, and have fun doing so.
Once you have become good enough at various levels, then go for arcade mode and see how you perform under pressure (racing against time) and how much points you can score. If you want to go for the high score (or if the game is to be used in some sort of tournament), then start arcade mode at level 1. As mentioned on the Rotor web page, the time limit of each level is currently determined by an experimental heuristics. I really would like to learn what you (and other players) think about this:
- Which level layouts are the most fun?
- Which are the most difficult?
- Are there any levels that should be removed or redesigned (too simple, too difficult)?
- Which time limits are too tight, and which are too generous?
Any feedback is highly appreciated! And of course it is 42 levels. Why more? After level 42, life, the universe and everything will reset and restart in a new cycle
Many Cheers, Peer

Yesterday afternoon, my two 6-year-old twin kids had some great fun playing levels 1, 2 and 3 (in training mode).
Vectrex Primary School rocks!

I'm not the best at puzzle games but this is a pretty clever idea. Simple to play but tough to solve. I also like the music. Well done.

The idea for Rotor can partly be blamed on my son. He came up with one instance of those puzzles problems, and we tried to solve it on paper. That was tedious, so I (or rather he) decided, that I should do an implementation.
David from Packrat also suggested some additional ideas, which I will address after completing my current project.
