With respect to usage with Vectrex, for save game data, does it matter which memory configuration DS2430 is used?
ie there seems to be a 1x256 bit version:
and a 32x8 bit version:
I am using Alex Herberts EEPROM driver, if that matters.
I would guess that both devices would work ok (I don't know what the difference is really...256 bits is 8x32 bits after all), but there is quite a big price difference so would like to be sure.

I am sorry, I don‘t know - but I‘d also assume that they would be compatible.
Its the same Datasheet...

Thanks. Yes, I assumed the same, but thought it odd that there was quite a big price difference...
Anyway I ordered a few to try as I needed some other parts, and can confirm the cheaper 1x 256bit works perfectly well.

I think I have a 4x64 byte version too, which I have yet to test on real hardware just in VIDE. any differences I bet are just in block sizes you read/write
