Highscore list has been updated - see initial post. Current top 5 ranking: 1. limitzer0 (600pts) 2. Chainsaw (574pts) 3. playvectrex (553pts) 4. Vorkosigan (495pts) 5. fmml (461pts) robutt has qualified - congratulations! Notes: Link to highscore list is fixed. Sorry for the glitch! ___ Vorkosigan : That's an outstanding Pole Position score! For me this is the first time that I see a 78xxx score and you bet I've seen many scores in the past 10 years. Great! Peer : Very good GWSL score - you're close to the top! robutt : Good scores - especially your KnightEx score. ... I've had a Vectrex since 2006/7 but for some reason haven't joined in with a Vector War before. I figured it is about time I did, and a good excuse to have a break from working on my own game! Enjoying it so far! Thank you for telling us your Vector War story, minsoft. I hope that you enjoy Vector War and perhaps even wonder afterwards why you haven't participated much earlier. I'd be curious to know a bit more about your game and as written before to robott: If you want feedback/ideas/testing at some stage you might want to contact me. Only thing that sometimes keeps me from providing feedback is limited time - Peer knows this well. @all: BTW, I've just noticed that there is quite a number of Vectrex developers (either hardware or software or even both) among the Vector War players. Not quite sure how this comes but I guess it has to do with the overall dedication to the Vectrex hobby. But please don't feel bad if you aren't a developer yourself - actually I'm not a developer, either.

I've been doing a log of sorts about my game development on twitter if you are interested:
Thanks for the offer for testing etc, I am creeping towards a beta version and may well need some testing help so will keep you in mind...

^Oh wow! Looks somewhat like Astro Blaster with the way enemies can suddenly drop down and all but with the saucer/basic gameplay from Space Invaders.

KnightEx: 10950
Never been any good at Joust, one game where I really haven't got a clue what to do and don't get any better at it!
Edit: I should add that KnightEx is a very nice version, looks great and feels very much like Joust. I will have to put some more time into it.

It has a mixture of 'waves' (levels)...some are similar to Astro Blaster, some similar to Space Invaders and some are quite unique. It borrows the saucer from Space Invaders, but this one can shoot at the player and can also carry a powerup...

How does the scoring/levels for Get The Beer work? I played it twice and at the end, both times it said:
DRUNKENNESS: 000 LEVEL: 005
However one of those turns I seemed to get much further and was controlling the beer rather than the man, it said DRUNKENNESS: 001 before starting those levels, but said 000 when I had lost all lives.
Do you have to 'complete' DRUNKENNESS 001 (assume that means controlling the beer) for it to say that on the game over screen or something?

I assume we use the same rules for the Spoon prize this year, right? The fact that it is supposed to be a dishonor to get that prize, we might want to exclude children from the selection. I as the fabricator should also be immune to winning it as it feels wrong for me to win a prize that I myself made and donated. So in the even that I end up second to last, the prize should go to the one above me.
Also, can we expect a bug fixed version of Get the Beer anytime soon? It is so frustrating to get the wrong stats on the game over screen. I need to be fast and capture the info screen between levels, but that one is displayed very short time, so I always miss it by half a second or so. A wait for button press on those in between level screens would save a lot of frustration. I got to 1-5 but the game over screen shows 0-5. I have never experiences any "drunk-controls" yet, but maybe I need to get more drunk than 1 to get those. The game is a fun game, it just needs some minor fixes that's all.

Hadn't played this before...I want to like it but it's pretty awkward. Nice idea though.

Answer is: Your score is a combination of drunkenness and level. E.g. drunkenness 1 and level 3 is listed as 1-3 in the highscore list. 1-3 is better than 0-5 (Drunkenness 0 and level 5). Once you completed all levels the game continues with drunkenness 1 and level 1. Though, there's a bug and drunkenness isn't always correct. As a workaround please reset the game "Get the beer" after game ended (and taking a photo of the screen) before playing again. Please see discussion here. Currently, in the initial post the rule says: " Prize Z - Vector War XI wooden spoon donated by Tony (fruktodlaren ) awarded to the player who ranks second last." Please see here to see Bretts reply on my question. Please continue discussion in that topic "Vector War XI - Preparations & Disussions", Tony. And right: Donators cannot win their own prize - this wouldn't make sense. And to complete it: The VW organisator (me) cannot win any prizes.

Seems to be a good day for me... :-) GWSL: 61330 Yes, another high score from you and another "Wow!" from me. Let's see how high scores for GWSL will go. I guess that Chris Malcolm ( binarystar), developer of GWSL, might be surprised.

Holy smokes!! That's an amazing score! I'm not sure what it is in Pole Position that exactly gives you the really high score, but most all of these high scores have the same time of 248.8, so it must be the random number of cars you pass for the bonus that ends up being several hundred more. I've gotten as low as 77,050 with a time of 248.8 and now we see 78,000 is possible. That's a difference of 19 cars x the 50 point bonus. I've started a post over here about a short intro tune version of Pole Position... maybe we can use this during VWXI? vectorgaming.proboards.com/post/33452/thread
