Holy smokes!! That's an amazing score! I'm not sure what it is in Pole Position that exactly gives you the really high score, but most all of these high scores have the same time of 248.8, so it must be the random number of cars you pass for the bonus that ends up being several hundred more. I've gotten as low as 77,050 with a time of 248.8 and now we see 78,000 is possible. That's a difference of 19 cars x the 50 point bonus. I've started a post over here about a short intro tune version of Pole Position... maybe we can use this during VWXI? vectorgaming.proboards.com/post/33452/threadI couldn't believe it myself and I'm still on an adrenaline kick. ;-) Even more so after my GWSL score. With the current highscore I really do love the original Pole Position tune now, but yours is also a nice one. :-) Cheers Marc |

Answer is: Your score is a combination of drunkenness and level. E.g. drunkenness 1 and level 3 is listed as 1-3 in the highscore list. 1-3 is better than 0-5 (Drunkenness 0 and level 5). Once you completed all levels the game continues with drunkenness 1 and level 1. Though, there's a bug and drunkenness isn't always correct. As a workaround please reset the game after the game ended (and taking a photo of the screen) before playing again. Please see discussion here. Aha - thank you! Just a minor correction... I'm not sure if resetting after a bugged score will correct it, but resetting before each run does seem to fix the score. Just don't forget to reset, and you can always double check when you get to the 6th level that it says Drunkeness: 1, Level 1. I'm guessing the game progresses like this... {Spoiler} with 20 levels total?

I had assumed other people were finishing with more time left than me, getting 200 extra points per second. But I hadn't paid attention to the elapsed times in the screenshots so guess you are right...
I thought clipping the curb was costing me time & bonus points but perhaps the impact of that is lower than I thought.

 Highscore list has been updated - see initial post. Current top 5 ranking: 1. limitzer0 (600pts) 2. Chainsaw (576pts) 3. playvectrex (542pts) 4. Vorkosigan (531pts) 5. fmml (465pts) Top 5 ranking didn't change. ___ ATM, it's 19 players in total and 15 players have qualified, already. Score submission and screenshots work perfectly, thank you for your taking the hazzle. So far a very smooth Vector War with quite a number of very high scores.  |
