From an email I received from the project lead: "Android is most definitely on the roadmap. We will launch on iOS (iPhone/iPad) first - simply because we are a small team and don't have the resource to launch on both platforms simultaneously. But it is coming..." That is good news! Thank you.

also just saw this message on rec.games.vectrex which is very reassuring :
Hi all,
Just thought I'd jump in here on behalf of Rantmedia Games to put your minds at rest. It's true that we do have the international license to the Vectrex brand, but our intention is not to use it to beat the Vectrex community over the head - quite the opposite! :-)
We want to bring Vectrex to a whole new audience. Even those who have never heard of Vectrex before will hopefully soon be playing both the classic original games as well as the newer games by numerous indie development studios that continue to develop for Vectrex.
Ultimately, we are only interested in the commercial use of the brand
-one of the reasons Vectrex is still popular today is because of the dedicated work of the community - we certainly do not want to do anything that stifles this activity now or in the future.
Best wishes,
Anton (Director, Rantmedia Games)

I'm bumping this due to a great new video being released Looks like there's some Vectrex notes on that board. Love the "killing Martians" part!

Very nice indeed! Now, they need to port it to Android so I can have some Vectrex fun on my devices!

Only 8 hours till Vectrex Regeneration is released... I'm a (this time poor) Android owner and would like to know: - What's the price for the Vectex Generation app on iOS? - Which games are included in the app? - What do additional games cost (min/max)? - Which additional games are available? Would be cool if someone could check and post this info. And sure enough I look forward to read first reviews...

Only partial answers I have is that I think all original-released games will be available, plus some homebrews, I think being War of the Robots and Thrust. I got a press release but I deleted it accidentally, which I need to ask them to resend it to me, since it linked to the International Play Your Vectrex Day page in it So I can't remember exactly what it said (probably someone else on here got it though). EDIT: just looked it up, it was on the last e-mail I got that I still have, not the one before that that got deleted. New titles currently placed in the app are Thrust by Ville and Continuum, Vector 21, War of the Robots by Fury. So there's more then!

Ok, here are some first impressions.
The app is free and Minestorm is included, here in the UK the Megapack costs £4.99 which currently includes Armour Attack, Bedlam, Bezerk, Blitz!, Cosmic Chasm, Fortress Of Narzod, Heads Up, Hyper Chase, Pole Possition, Rip Off, Scramble, Solar Questt, Spike, Star Castle, Star Ship, Star Hawke & Web Wars.
The Indy games currently included are Continuum, Thrust, Vector & War Of The Robots.
I've tested the app on an iPhone 4GS & a iPad 2. Both work fine (There's been reports that it doesn't work on the iPad 2) and I haven't had any software crashes so far. Touch screen controls work far better on the iPad obviously due to there being more space on the screen but really to get the most out of this app you will need an icade or other controller device. Saying that, I still found Minestorm enjoyable on my iPhone with the touch screen controls.
Everything seems to be very well emulated but there is no speech on Spike! Darnit!!!
Obviously there blur effect from the original hardware is not really found here but I'd say that this is a very good app and well worth taking a look at, especially if you have an icade.

Everything seems to be very well emulated but there is no speech on Spike! Darnit!!! OH NO! That's the ENTIRE GAME right there!! Well...damn. A lot of the time speech is hard to do in emulation for old games, is my guess of the problem there The rest sounds good though.

Another video, which is longer and more in-depth! I was wondering what would be on those video tapes! A Vectrex commercial! I hope the footage from when the programmer(s?) was covered on the NBC Nightly News from back in the day is on there too. Thrust is also given some screen time, along with showing the removal of overlays and the like.

Worth checking out for sure. Nothing like a real Vectrex obviously, but definitely fun for anyone who is already into vectrex, (and has ipad or iphone)
... Honestly though I'm a little afraid large numbers of vectrex virgins will base their impressions of the console on this app. It's not a great representation in my opinion, (rather just something to amuse you if you already think Vectrex is awesome). The controls and graphics are not as solid as the Atari Greatest Hits vector games in my opinion. Also, I've found it preferable, even necessary on some games, to play without the "overlay" - and many of you here probably know I am obsessed with overlays and always play with one on my Vectrex. ... Perhaps the controls are better with the iPhone connection, and surely they are with the iCade. But as is, the action buttons are too small (for me at least) and the way the joystick works can be very frustrating, (the location of the stick is not stationary and if you miss one of the buttons with your right hand, the joystick flies over to the spot you touched way over by the action buttons). I have no idea why the location of the joystick is not specifically defined, the way 1,2,3,4 are.
Great app if you are a Vectrex fan. I hope they update it some in the future though, and change some things. ... I'm sure this was a ton of work. Hopefully it pays off for these guys and they support it for a while.

... Honestly though I'm a little afraid large numbers of vectrex virgins will base their impressions of the console on this app. Well I don't know who they are, but already brain virgins are out in force Already there's been two negative reviews (one star out of five) who can't figure out you rate something once you've EXPERIENCED it, not because you can't! Because I've seen two so-called "reviews" whining "it won't work on ___ (version) of ____ (platform)". Well, it's been explained what it will and won't work on at the app stores, I do believe. That's like if I were to trash some hot new PS3 game that people have been looking forward to (whatever's out) and give it a crappy review because it won't run on my Sega CD

Here is a video with a side by side comparison of the real hardware and the emulator running on an ipad2 in an iCade. youtu.be/hBljliUwphUI spoke to one of the programmers today via Twitter, the next update has already been passed onto Apple.

And here is another (long) comparison: I think that video is a fair assessment. I agree that the onscreen controls are a bit fiddly. Being used to a Vectrex controller I just couldn't get used to the onscreen controls. Using the iCade with the app is definitely an improvement. I've got an iPad2 with the latest OS, and for some reason it keeps glitching and momentarily crashing on the second level of Mine Storm. Until that is fixed with an update I'm not going to download the game pack. Anyone else experienced this issue on their iPad2? On a seperate note I saw a picture of the developers and they all looked younger than the Vectrex! I wonder if they knew/remembered to use the Mine Storm with the bug fix for the beyond level 13 bug >

I don't have an iPad yet but this looks better than I thought it would, and it's really cool to see homebrew games on there. Fury - how closely did you work with them during development?
