I had nothing to do with the development. They contacted me months ago, and I agreed to allow them to use the games that I had released as freeware up to that point, which includes WOTR, Vector 21, and Continuum (but not 3D LOTR). They expressed interest in also releasing non-freeware games of mine as separate downloads, and paying me per game sold, but I declined.

Also, I did tell them that I wanted my 3 games to be free to the customers, because they are freeware. I expressly told them that I didn't want anyone making money on those (myself included). Just took a look, and unless I'm seeing it incorrectly, it looks like my games are being included as part of a paid game-pak...
Either way, I'm not going to worry about it. I don't plan to supply any additional games anyway.

I've got an iPad2 with the latest OS, and for some reason it keeps glitching and momentarily crashing on the second level of Mine Storm. Until that is fixed with an update I'm not going to download the game pack. Anyone else experienced this issue on their iPad2? Yeah, for some stupid reason they showed that on their own 21 minute video! I had a comment about that in regards to "what the hell happened at __:__?", but with the last five minutes of the video it started pulling the crap where it would pause and pause and pause, which I ended up getting so infuriated I forgot to post my comment once it finally ended. On a seperate note I saw a picture of the developers and they all looked younger than the Vectrex! They own a Vectrex and several games, so I guess that doesn't really matter... I wonder if they knew/remembered to use the Mine Storm with the bug fix for the beyond level 13 bug > I'll be finding out once I download the free part of it I need to get a password issue fixed first though through the iTunes store, plus I should download Star Cannon first from Celtroniclabs to let him know what I think of the game, then I'll go into this one once I have more time to check out all the extra stuff, like the commercials and stuff on the bulletin board and all.

Just been thinking. The light pen games would be ideal for the Vectrex app. Imagine playing Mail Plane with the touch screen!

The mega pack is for the standard games on the top shelf. The homebrew games on the bottom shelf all can be played for free.

Was curious about your decision about not wanting to release your non free ware games for their app? Is that because you want to remain in complete control of selling your games? I know you did do multi platform in the past. I remember you also sold Royal 21 for the Windows Smart phone.

yes, but what if they repeated history and did know or think to test the Mine Storm game beyond level 13. Space dust on the Vectrex, who knows what on the iPad

Yes, wasn't sure, but it does state now in the AppStore that select indie games are free so that is definitely what I wanted to see. VectrexMad, the only multi-platform situation that I've been a part of is when I re-wrote my own games (Vector 21/Blackjack Fury and Royal 21) for the Windows Mobile platform. This is really different because it's an emulation of vector graphics which is not something that I'm in love with. This should come as no surprise to anyone here I still have supported the app by contributing three games, that's three of the four homebrew games for their app, but that will be the extent of my involvement with it.

I wanted to try this app out on my iPad1, but the developers (an entire team of people) were apparently unable to get it to run on the 1st gen iPad.. They said something about the vector drawing being tough to get working on the first gen iPad.. I tried to run it on my iPad1 anyway, and saw that all it does is just crash on the loading screen.
My app not only runs on an iPad1, it was developed on an iPad1. The same iPad1 was used for the game play footage you see in my video trailer (shot with my crappy iPhone camera). I will admit, it was not easy to accomplish though. The iPad1 does struggle a bit to run my app at 60fps when both the overlay and backdrop art are enabled together. Therefore, I play it with the overlays only, and disable the backdrop art. On my friend's iPad2 there is never any slow down or stuttering and it runs full speed at all times even with both the overlay and backrop enabled. I am going to ask Santa for a newer iPad..
The Vectrex app runs on my iPhone 4S, but I just could not get the joystick/pad control thing (which doesn't even display on the iPhone) to work worth a damn. In Minestorm, I could fire, thrust and hyperspace, but turning the ship, forget it.. It was like an old Muscle Car, you can go as fast as you want straight ahead as long as you don't turn. I certainly was not going to pay for the rest of the games when I can't even play Minestorm.

The joystick function is downright frustrating. In iPad2 it is visible as a transparent thumb-stick, over the game graphics. Ok fine, but this thumb-stick instantly moves to any spot that you touch on the screen, unless that spot is already another button. Also, when you keep your left hand on the stick, the whole base of the stick tends to gradually move across the screen in the direction you are pressing. WHY IS THE STICK NOT STATIONARY? What possible purpose does it serve for the joystick to instantly appear on whatever spot the screen is touched?

Yeah, I had noticed that in recent videos and thought it was a bit odd.

Yesterday I saw on the Apple Store that they had an update available and that it now runs on the iPad1. They also fixed the problem I was experiencing on my iPad2 with regards to Mine Storm repeatedly crashing on level 2. I'm definitely having a better experience now. Still haven't bought the game pack yet though. This is because with the onscreen controls the game playing experience is no way as good as playing on the real Vectrex. However, now with the update the app is pretty good overall - i think it would be perfect with the iCade.

But generally without some external controller the onscreen controls are a poor mans second best. So i'll only play this app when I not in the vicinity of a real Vectrex - but probably I am not the app authors target audience - this app is more for those who don't have a real Vectrex.

<Nod> I was expecting that. The Analog "Swerve-Pad" they implemented would "center itself wherever you happen to touch your Thumb/Finger on the iPad.
I think a "Regen" control panel for the App behaviour / skins would be a nice touch. The 80's House/Shelf look and feel with stickey notes was not what I saw when playing the Vectrex... (Open Stud walls with no drywall/Fake-Wood Vaneer, in the basement...)
Rather I would prefer using a "Menu" driven interfaces like contemporary games on iOS/Android/BB10. And have a control panel asking "Where you would like to lock the "Swerve-Pad"?
And now the Bluetooth question; if an analog controller Like the PS3 BT controller was able to connect, would you use it? Or would you prefer a "Wired" connection (Like the iCade)?
