I have copies of 3D Narrow Escape and 3D Crazy Coaster, but unfortunately not the 3D Imager needed to play them. I plan on selling them, but when testing them the console boots up with the normal Vectrex logo and jingle, then the title screen for each game appears for several seconds. But after that, the screen goes blank while still powered on, no sounds, nothing happens when I press any buttons or the analog stick.
My concern is if the games are defective or not, or simply will not function without the 3D imager plugged into the second controller port? That it occurs with both games makes me think it's the latter, but I want to be 100% sure before listing them for sale. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

They pretty much need the 3D Imager. If I remember correctly though (someone correct me here if not) you can rapidly press button 4 and I *think* you can get the game to somewhat run unless that's just with 3D Sector-X. (Someone?)

I do also believe the games will not work without the 3D Imager plugged into the system.

Yes, the games attempt to detect and start up the 3D Imager, and won't continue unless it is there, hence the blank screen.

I will try to find the time and test this later today. Just tested this and now confirm what the others have already said: games don't start if the imager is not plugged in. |

As noted with an decent research about the vectrex 3D imager, the games require the 3D Imager in order to display and image on the Vectrex. Or some other method to provide a signal to imitate the signal from the imager. What you are seeing is expected operation without an Imager. |
