Polar rescue 35925 (back to this again this year! Silent hunter it isint but it is a fun often overlooked game imho) Yes rip off it helps to ram the craft for sure and stay well away from centre when possible đŸ˜€

LOL! Just had a peek in the kids' room: The twins are sitting side by side at the table, each with their own Vectrex in front of them, and they are both playing Pole Position, pretending to race against each other Clever!

Hi Peer. Yeah, glad to see you too, and you also already did some great scores. Yeah in Bedlam I had luck to reach this score, but there are also possibilities to reach much higher scores. Rip Off: I played it normal. At the beginning, I try to stay as far away as possible of the center, that the enemies don't try to kill me. And I try to shoot em as early as possible. Later, the enemies will be more and more agressive, so that I also have difficulties. Also don't forget that you have endless lifes, in later / faster levels I often shoot 2 enemies, and ram the third with my ship. Difficult to explain. Ah, thanks, my strategy at the beginning is to sit in the center and to shoot from there. And in later stages I usually fly at the enemies while shooting at them at the same time. Now that is interesting. I also tried my original cartridge (had played from a VecFlash so far), and indeed it works and the explosions are visible. So there either is some whatever difference in the binary file, or playing from a multicartridge makes the difference. Logic tells me that the brightness value for drawing the explosions in the binary version is (accidently?) set to zero. This can the case if joystick 2 is checked (reading joystick 2 does indeed have the side-effect of setting the brightness to zero). But why this should be the case in the binary, but not when using the original cartridge, I have no idea. Couldn't give it a rest. I flashed Rip Off to my VecFlash in Dev-Mode (no menu, just the native binary). And it works. All explosions are visible. So somehow the menu-maker must be causing this??? Wonder what it might potentially do to other binaries...

Player: Fruktodlaren Pole Position: 28830Crush of Lucifer: 4070EDIH: 14185Marine Fox: 29896Thrust: 32000Thrust gets really hard at level 3 and above. I haven't fully wrapped my head around ACoL yet, but I am warming up towards it. I keep dying from those diving enemies in Unicorn Galaxy, so I couldn't better my score there just yet.

Highscore list has been updated - see initial post. Current top 5 ranking: 1. kiwasabi (555pts) 2. mozie (536pts) 3. Chainsaw (477pts) 4. Vorkosigan (414pts) 5. Peer (380pts) arquillos and Chainsaw joined in and have qualified, congratulations! Threshold score of Release has been lowered to 1.250. Many new scores have been submitted and new players have joined in. Ranking has been mixed quite a bit. ___ Nice discussions going on. I just hope I won't dream of "Heads Up Soccer - Marathon edition" this night. @ Fredrik: That's a good Clean Sweep score - well done! @ John ( mozie): Excellent Release! scores. I wonder what Chris ( Malban) would consider a really high score in Release! Perhaps he shows up here and can answer. Moreover, I still have the hope that Chris joins in VW 14 - but I guess he's busy with other things. Keep up the good playing - but please have some relaxing holidays, too. "Rip off qualifier 11740"?! - I wished I could score that high one day 11740. @ Juan ( arquillos): Great that you've joined in after a pause of five years. And you started well with a high score in Marine Fox. Greetings to Spain and good fun playing VW XIV! (Funny that you used Hyperchase overlay for Pole Position). @ Stefan ( Chainsaw): A Vector War without you is like an ocean without fish. Welcome and congrats to your 13th Vector War! And you start with stellar scores in Bedlam and Rip Off. Obelix comes to my mind who fell into the magic cauldron as kid. And you had played Vectrex when you were a kid. . o O (Swiss section is pretty strong this year.)

Nice discussions going on. I just hope I won't dream of "Heads Up Soccer - Marathon edition" this night. Now that gives me yet another idea: Soccer Football version 2, and the game ends if and only if your player has run a virtual 42.195 Km! In each half, of course! So have some sweet dreams, Helmut Ok, kidding aside. What might indeed be an interesting take on this game could a mini version of Soccer Football, which ends as soon as the first goal is scored. And the player's score is the time it took to score the goal. Like in "the fastest goal in soccer history". Time could be accurately measured in number-of-frames since kick-off. mozie , what do you think of this?

Hahaha I'll be honest Peer I would certainly play that, almost like seeing who could stop playing the game in the fastest time possible, this I could get behind đŸ˜‚ by the way i partially blame you for last year because I focused far too much time on that game trying to beat your scores so you owe me one... joking of course

Obelix comes to my mind who fell into the magic cauldron as kid. And you had played Vectrex when you were a kid. . o O (Swiss section is pretty strong this year.) Mhhh that's true about the magic cauldron, also when somebody bought the Vectrex in 1982 or 1983, he had no multi cart or Vecmulti. First Mine Storm. Again and again, for hours and days. Then usually, you bought another single game, and also played this until you knew everything by heart. And no, it never got boring, the vector screen was simply mesmerising. )Edit: It is still today, isn't it??? I also learn new games fast, but I struggle more and more with fast games that need quick reactions. Also with the new Lucifer game that I just got new, I needed 30 minutes, until I reached first time Lucifer, even if I read the manual :-) And without you, Vector War wouldn't be the same, and without all the other players, Vector War would be an ocean without water :-) But thanks for your kind words.

Managed to play the remaining games this evening. Thrust I couldn't get on with. Reminds me of playing Solar Jetman on the NES. The inertia doesn't agree with me. Marine Fox has increased my fear of sharks and now makes two games on the Vectrex featuring sharks that increase my anxiety. Release, I am enjoying this, very addictive. Music is fantastic. Can do much better I feel. Unicorn Galaxy has a lovely story to it. I can see myself getting into this and trying to improve my score during the week.
