Hi guys, tonight I've switched my Vectrex on after about 3 months of non use and the screen isn't as bright as it once was. As soon as I try to adjust the brightness/contrast a white dot appears in the centre of the screen with lines connected to the rest of the graphics... So any ideas or suggestions? Cheers

Can't you just adjust it back until the lines and dot disappear? They are common to all Vectrex as far as I'm aware.

When I adjust it back so that the white dot and lines fade, I can barely see the remaining graphics on screen. it's too dark! Looks like I'm going to have to open it up again. It's a shame because after fixing the sound issue that I had when I first bought it, it was running lovely.

It sounds like to me that he barely touches it and it looks like that but I could be wrong. Probably needs to have some cap work done is my guess, or adjust the pots. EDIT: hah, he got in his post right before mine

Well, I've taken it apart and given it a bit of a clean up and made sure that all the chips were correctly in place and I took a look at the capacitors, which all looked ok. Anyway, I've powered it back up and it's back in action working fine. I've got a feeling that it will go again but for now I can carry on vector gaming

That's good. Sometimes electronics DO just need a cleaning and that's it. Clots of dust can get on boards and such and impede what the device is trying to do. I've seen it before with an old computer of mine when someone came in to fix a leak in the roof and hotglued some material to patch the hole from where water was coming in, getting dust everywhere, including my computer. I found that out when I took the cover off and it was full of dust (and not working), yet I had just cleaned that a few months previous! I cleaned it up again and never had a problem with it since until I had to buy a new computer eventually.
