♬ Hiiiiigh performance. Vectrex! ♫ That's right baby we have a new theme song! This looks like a MiltonBradley era commercial. Much different in tone from the earlier GCE commercials. (Pure speculation.) More speculation: the music in that AMC commercial sounds like one of the Brandenburg variations. If AMC and NFL used the same music, it points to a familiar scenario: "We didn't budget for music; we'll have to use something public domain." And finally: the AMC takes me back too. Just like the Vectrex does. Makes me wonder how many here drive vintage cars? Retro seems to be a state of mind with Vectrexians. There's some guy here who I guess sold a chunk of his Vectrex collection to free up funds for his DMC-12. When I read that I thought, "yep, that's me." Except I don't own a Delorean. But if I had the time and funds... I'd buy an '89 Quadrifoglio...

I don't have my driving licence (yet), so logically, I don't have a car (yet)

Jay Smith, and at least one other GCE/Smith Engineering originals mentioned the Jackie Stewart commercial to me several times. He always wondered if a copy of it survived. I'll be happy to send a link of this over to him right away! Thanks for finding this!!!!!!!!!! :-) (there were 32 games available for the Vectrex at that time? ;-) )

Yes, the subject of the Jackie Stewart commercial comes up in the Jay Smith keynote at CGE. He mentions it and asks the archivist: "Do we have a copy of that commercial?" www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBtFJjTnE6wThe answer was no. That was 2007. So great share VectorX. Vectrexer, tell your GCE alumni you have information (man:) "New sh*t has come to light!" The Manta's a hella cool ride. They're non-existent in the US but I remember seeing the Opel Rallye as a kid. Does your GT run? My daily driver is a '91 Saab 900. I love that it's old, and still looks like the 80's Saab's I loved as a kid. Luitoine, let us know what car you're driving 30 years from now.

Now I just wish someone could find the old NBC Nightly News bit (I think it was) in regards to one of the programmers. No one seems to have that one. I came in right at the very end of it when it aired, seeing a few seconds of some Star Trek gameplay footage and then some trees or something, which I think the point they were getting across was in regards to some of the isolated places that programmers or gaming companies can actually exist (like Sierra).

My GT is a rust free shell waiting restoration, drivetrain and interior are not in the car but I have a parts cache for my opels of aftermarket, modified and rare piece. The Manta has Borbet T-Types, GTE Spoiler, Getrag 5-Speed and DESTEC LED tail lights and I have Recaro Manta B GTE seats, and a Momo steering Wheel that are just waiting for me to find the time.

Simple, yet a nice-looking design/paint job. (And I'm not even a car guy!)

Another one came up, with just the commercial this time: Ouch, that sucks at the end when it states about the "large library" of the Vectrex though (It has one NOW, but back then...sadly, no.)
