Well, my day turned out to be a bit more complicated than I had expected but I did manage to play some games and just posted it on the Wiki.

November 1st, 2013, 11:56pm - Beat the Wizard on Level 1, Fortress of Narzod, (after 3 failed tries), Score: 7010.
Topped that score, however, on one of the failed attempts - 7240.
Also played Starhawk game 2, for 19100 and played through all levels of the Bloxorz demo.

No, Combat has way more variations, and AA requires two hits on tanks (which, even though simple, I always thought that was an ingenious, nice twist), plus it has the helicopter! Did Combat have 2 player cooperative play? That's my favorite thing about Armor Attack, (as well as Rip Off, which is even better for this). Both are really fun with 2 players. Also, did Combat have steer and thrust controls? .. I don't see how it could have with only one button on the controller. .. Pushing forward on the stick to thrust is a pretty lame substitute in my opinion. And steering and thrusting is one of the best things about old games in my opinion. Heh, and for a ranged fire overhead tank game, vector graphics and steer/thrust controls must certainly make for a more sophisticated shooting ability. Great variety of controlled angles of shots.

Did Combat have 2 player cooperative play? Nope, just competitive. Also, did Combat have steer and thrust controls? .. I don't see how it could have with only one button on the controller. .. Pushing forward on the stick to thrust is a pretty lame substitute in my opinion. That's what it had, forward on the stick. That's all you could do back then, unless you were playing a game on a computer or the later Intellivision.

Just to note, England is part of the UK, so it's somewhat redundant heh... yeah, I updated last year's trivia section as it didn't mention England. Btw what's this Space Forces thing in Minestorn? Is that only part of the fixed Minestorm II version?

yeah, I updated last year's trivia section as it didn't mention England. Thanks, I'll take out that trivia note the next time I update the page. Btw what's this Space Forces thing in Minestorn? Is that only part of the fixed Minestorm II version? No, it's in the later U. S. version that goes up to Mine Field 89. They're like the "dumb" mines that just float around, although they seem to be space ships. One of them is shaped like a gun (as seen in the photo), the other one looks kind of like the sign of Pi (a little bit below right of the ship in the photo). I'll eventually get a video camera (with way better quality) and show gameplay of that version that probably few have seen. I'm glad that I decided to play that after all (got sick of M. Storm decades ago), as there was a site that had Vectrex scores that I had to blow away, so I decided to do that and present something few had seen There were a few other "firsts" as well this year but I'll wait for the dust to settle in another day or two and see if anything else of interest pops up before posting about it.

So this "later" US version isn't the same as Minestorm II? Excuse my confusion, but I wasn't sure about the terminology here. Could be the same code, but just built-in to later production US units? Anyhow, I've updated the Wikia page with my notes and images

So this "later" US version isn't the same as Minestorm II? Excuse my confusion, but I wasn't sure about the terminology here. Could be the same code, but just built-in to later production US units? Nope. I've played MS II on an emulator before. The version I have skips around, from level 13 to 15, among many others. I had posted about this before a while back (I'll do a link to it later). It has Space Forces and space dust. I played MS II up to level 54 or something a while back and these elements weren't in there at all. There's also some fireball thingy in Mine Field 89 (where the game ends) as well (again, I'll get a camera at some point and make a video of all this. You can search YouTube for schoolgirlshortdress, who has a couple of videos up of this version, but he only got to a level in the 20s or something, not until the end). Anyhow, I've updated the Wikia page with my notes and images I saw! Looks like the teaser mystery to the unreleased (as of yet) Vectrex project is solved!

^Yeah, I noticed the change of mind I've played MS II on an emulator before. The version I have skips around, from level 13 to 15, among many others. I had posted about this before a while back (I'll do a link to it later). I bumped up that thread. The very first post details all the level skips. I also have an extra, separately printed sheet in my Mine Storm instructions mentioning getting past level 13. At some point over the weekend I'll see about digging it out of my closet and bumping up the thread that des did a while back in regards to rare Vectrex paperwork.

The posts of the Aussies are really a nice and funny surprise. Give the international PYVD a really international touch. Perhaps Japan joins in next year? ;-)
