Ok, I guess this is the appropriate place to put this post. There is an item for sale involved so I put it here. www.ebay.com/itm/VECTREX-3D-IMAGER-BOXED-WITH-MINESTORM-3D-CARTRIDGE-/300819828668?pt=Video_Games_Accessories&hash=item460a424fbcThis guy has a very nice looking Vectrex 3D headset for sale on ebay for $675 buy it now. (More than I can spend, but apparently a pretty even market price) The reason I'm posting about this is because this seller seems to have a very interesting profile. He/she seems to somehow exclusively deal in the ultra rare video game rarities. He/she has only 34 feedback ratings, and every item in his/her sale history is $$$ video games - currently just one other item for sale which is Atari 2600 game with buy it now price of $999.99. Recently completed sales include a $208 2600 game, a $696 2600 game and an $1,830 2600 game!!! How does a person end up in this situation? eh, by the way, RE: (title of this thread), if anyone has some 3D glasses for a possible cash/trade combo, i would be interested. $500 - $700 is beyond my ability, but I have some other Vectrex valuables to put in trade.

One could assume they just have a gigantic video game collection period and could be in some financial trouble, hence they're just selling off high-end items.

Is $1,800 a normal amount to pay for a rare 2600 cartridge? ... Just seems like a pretty special nitch to me. That's more than I would generally pay for an entire collection.

Which one was it? I assume you find that out through I. D. History, but I don't have an e-bay account right now, so I can't look.

I'm not an expert on Atari collecting, but I suppose it'd depend on the availability of the game. The infamous Atari "porn games" and other curious rarities have been known to sell for a high price. Remember that a seller can theoretically set the Buy It Now price to whatever he or she wishes, but the item won't necessarily attract any buyers at an unreasonable price. If you'd like to find out how much a game or accessory is worth, try searching for it at this website. Or, even better, conduct your own personal research: find the game on eBay and filter your search to include "Completed Listings" only. The listings that have sold will appear in green, and the listings that ended without a buyer will be shown in red. Quickly, you'll be able to see what the game is currently worth in the market. If it's not selling for $1,800, then it probably isn't worth that amount of money, and you'd be better off looking elsewhere for a better deal.

There are some very rare 2600 games that do go for a lot of money. In fact, there are some that have gone for even more money than $1800. As far as the 3D Imager, doesn't seem like a bad price given what I've seen them selling for recently (usually over $1000).

$999.99 seems a bit strong for Mr Do's Castle. I'm sure I've seen the cart on it's own for cheap. Looks like you're paying $995.99 for the box.

That $1,800 buy it now auction is a CLOSED sale from his recent past. IT SOLD! Incidently, all of his past sales that are still viewable sold to the same buyer. (you can only view completed sales within the last 90 days) ... the $696 sale was also for 2600 Mr. Do's Castle. ... I'm not interested in buying anything besides the Vectrex stuff, and I know it's a decent price on the 3D set, just more than I will pay. I just mention this seller in the forum here because I was impressed and intrigued by his business. I can't believe that anyone would pay that much for a 2600 game and that his whole business is selling to those people. But I maybe he is just a collector himself, selling off his most valuable relics.

Sure, it's a bit rare, but it's even worse than E. T.! (Yes I know, suckiness isn't always a factor in regards to price, but still...)

That $1,800 buy it now auction is a CLOSED sale from his recent past. IT SOLD! Ouch! The largest splurge I've made for a single out-of-box game was $75 for Mega Man X3 on the Super Nintendo; I bought it two years ago. The prices for Super Nintendo cartridges have skyrocketed since then, however, and the same game would likely sell for over $100 if it were auctioned today. I'd like to hunt down a copy of Earthbound--a natural choice for a self-admitted RPG fanatic--but the cartridge alone averages at $150 on eBay. Still, I believe I'll own a copy one day; game collecting is a forceful habit.

Yeah, if that Mr Do's Castle sold, that was a bit of a shock.
As for the price of the 3D Imager, that's about right imo for one without paperwork or colour wheel.
