Decided to sit down after a few month hiatus from Star Castle and belt out a new high score! 460,880. In honor of rmaerz's "Vector War" that I wasn't able to compete in. Don't rest on your laurels just yet rmaerz... I may not have had Web Wars for the Vector War, but that doesn't mean I can't be competitive! You underestimate me! I'm up for some friendly competition! I'll happily put my score up on vectrex.co.uk Yes yes, I understand that VectrexMad!'s website "Isn't as official as Twin Galaxies", but Twin Galaxies can be a parody of itself sometimes. Many people prefer not to go through the convoluted process of submitting an "official" score. The ones that do, tend to take advantage of that system and get high scores for hopelessly obscure games. So, high scores are typically questionable unless it's a popular game that has a well thought out score counter. Like the previous Twin Galaxies Vectrex Star Castle record (40k or something)? Pfft...I can do that one handed. I'll likely film a score in about a month when I move back to Colorado. Maybe I'll shoot for a higher score You want a Vector War?... You got it! \m/ *Plays Judas Priest "Riding On The Wind" in the background* P.S. Not gloating, just posting because some people on the Retrocade Magazine forums thought that my previous vectrex.co.uk score was the best I could do. I saw rmaerz's score tonight after work, so I said, "Hey, a challenger! I can beat that." Needless to say I did... Keep in mind that I've only had 6 sessions of the Vectrex version of Star Castle total since I've owned it. I suppose if I actually practiced, then I could just play until I get bored and tired! Many people prefer not to go through the convoluted process of submitting an "official" score. Yeah once I started turning in my scores to the site, VectrexMad! noted that I could cream several of the pathetic scores on Twin Galaxies. I just don't have a recording device right now to do so. You want a Vector War?... You got it! \m/ *Plays Judas Priest "Riding On The Wind" in the background* Heh, good ol' Priest Anyway, congrats, I've only played S. Castle a little bit on emulation, so I don't know how well I can do, but I severely doubt I could get that high!

Don't you just hate that?? You never have a video camera when you need one... Stupid money and not having it or caring enough to take my pick out of a hundred different cameras... Waaaay out of my comfort zone You want a Vector War?... You got it! \m/ *Plays Judas Priest "Riding On The Wind" in the background* Agreed on Priest! One of my favorite rock/metal groups. Pretty excited to see their show on the 29th up here in Seattle! They might be playing in Texas, but don't quote me on that. judaspriest.com/tour/default.aspThank you! I feel pretty proud of myself, otherwise I wouldn't have posted it. My score is microscopic compared to the arcade Star Castle score... another guy from Seattle no less. Not just any guy either! He holds multiple records for famous games. I think he has Asteroids, Asteroids Deluxe, Defender, Star Castle...amongst others. Jeez. I like having my 10 seconds of fame in front of the 10 other people on this forum! Maybe, once more people join the forum, then EVERYONE will see my glorious accomplishment! ;D That's the whole fun of the arcade scene though, high scores don't last forever. It's always a good time to try to top each other's scores. I can't even think of another Vectrex game that I can play on a similar level to Star Castle though... Maybe Solar Quest? I might be a one trick pony on the Vectrex. Still play all my games all the same! (You should see War Of The Worlds kick my ass) I'm convinced that there are 2 reasons that I got the score: 1. I can be very competitive if it holds my interest (sometimes) *cough ADD cough* 2. I was chatting casually to my girlfriend on the phone, keeping my mind off the stresses in the game, while listening to good music to hype me up. A guy that multitasks?!?! *gasp* Also, I don't plan on trying for any of your monster scores... Forget it. Solar Quest though? Possibly

Don't you just hate that?? Not really, there have been tons of stuff I've had to miss out on for years due to a rare illness, mentally ill parents I had to move back in with (whee!), not be able to work, and had to fix their legal messes (double whee!), so it's not a real big deal to me now. One day I'll get my name up there though! Agreed on Priest! One of my favorite rock/metal groups. Pretty excited to see their show on the 29th up here in Seattle! Lets see, is this (supposedly) their final tour? Thank you! I feel pretty proud of myself, otherwise I wouldn't have posted it. My score is microscopic compared to the arcade Star Castle score... What's the current one? I last played a machine just a couple of years ago at a gaming expo, btw And talk about a microscopic score there! I like having my 10 seconds of fame in front of the 10 other people on this forum! Maybe, once more people join the forum, then EVERYONE will see my glorious accomplishment! ;D I'm working on it...sent an invite to the main guy at Hardcore Gaming 101 , since they have articles on Berzerk (with the Vectrex version)/Frenzy and the Stellar series (starting out as wire frame vector imitation PC and C-64 games). He might just delete the e-mail, or he could send it around to the rest of the staff to see if anyone wants to join...plus I'm still contacting YouTube people trying to sell some goodies, and have plans on contacting others in the future... That's the whole fun of the arcade scene though, high scores don't last forever. Good point! 1. I can be very competitive if it holds my interest Yeah, I usually play to win if I bother (or get up pretty high) 2. I was chatting casually to my girlfriend on the phone, keeping my mind off the stresses in the game, while listening to good music to hype me up. A guy that multitasks?!?! *gasp* I don't do the above when I'm gaming or watching tv, since I want to try to not miss anything, with very few exceptions, like with the annoying background music you couldn't turn off on one of the Alex Kidd games on the Sega Master System I had; ugh! (Played Sabbat's Mourning Has Broken, if you're familiar with that thrash band while I was going through that game.) Also, I don't plan on trying for any of your monster scores... Forget it. Solar Quest though? Possibly That one isn't mine. That and Spike I have but never tried for a score on those...I just don't really care enough for those games to do that. Others I obviously do though!

Final "world" tour. They aren't retiring yet. They have some juice left for sure! Smaller tours, and occasional shows, likely. New album coming up too! 10,001,110 for the easy chip 29,800 for hard chip He holds BOTH Unfortunately, I've never played or have seen a real Star Castle in person! (MAME doesn't count for me) I've watched videos of it and looked at photos though. Also, have a shot at a Star Castle playing in an Armor Attack cabinet. A bit of a drive though... First, the vector enthusiasts....Then the other hardcore gamers....And then....THE WORLD Muahahahaha!....Ha....hmm *Dr. Evil pinky* ...Are they ill tempered? Also, I don't plan on trying for any of your monster scores... Forget it. Solar Quest though? Possibly I know that the Solar Quest score isn't yours, I didn't word it very well. I'm going for that one, because it doesn't have one of your scores!

10,001,110 for the easy chip 29,800 for hard chip He holds BOTH That'd figure ;D But some people can't hold more than one then, so it could go either way... First, the vector enthusiasts....Then the other hardcore gamers....And then....THE WORLD Muahahahaha!....Ha....hmm *Dr. Evil pinky* Heh! Yes, if you have a Vectrex, you're probably "hardcore" then! I know that the Solar Quest score isn't yours, I didn't word it very well. Ah, no problem... I'm going for that one, because it doesn't have one of your scores! It doesn't really matter...like you said, scores are going to change. My Protector score didn't last long, after it got whalloped off the site!

Very impressive score futureprimitive! It seems the gauntlet has begun! From what I heard from VectrexMad!, apparently someone got a score of 800,000 even. To me that sounds like a suspicious score, but it's possible to get that high. I couldn't keep playing after a long night of work and the hours long grind up to 460k, so I had to quit. Maybe on the weekend I'll go for broke!

Here's a link to my UStream channel that contains the live stream I did of my Star Castle score of 300K+ www.ustream.tv/channel/the-retrocadeHere's my high score on Star Castle played on hard chip: Regarding the 800K score: The only thing that bothers me about the score is that the player almost doubled FP's score. If you look at my streamed Star Castle performance, you'll notice that I purposefully kill myself off at 300K out of respect for other players. Now that someone has put up 800K, the fun has been taken out of swapping the high score. And really, at this point scores should be submitted via live stream only. It will take roughly 8 hours for someone to score 1 million and that scored could be topped by someone falsifying a photo and getting credit when credit is not due. Incidentally, I broke Tom Duncan's TG World Record on ColecoVision's Gorf based on the fact that I exploited a loophole in the game where you could sit there on the flag ship stage and keep shooting off the flag ship's bombs for points. Out of respect for Tom Duncan, I only topped his record by a few thousand points. He has since regained the record. - Rob
