Hello all, Just a quick post to say I've updated my blog page with a newer version of Vec-Wars, and I've put up the assembly for my quick flappy de-make. The code isn't great, but it is quite simple to follow for beginners, so if anybody wants to take a look, at either, please feel free. Or you can download the latest Vec-Wars from: www.dropbox.com/s/1c17uirecoaszk5/retdev.bin

Hello, cNp.
No, I'm fairly sure that was me being thick! It should work now!

Hi Garry,
Thanks for sharing the latest build, I hadn't played it before. Lots going on on the screen at once gives it a feel like Geometry Wars that inspired it.
I got used to the 4 buttons to shoot directionally pretty quickly myself although I found only being able to move in straight lines quite ... restrictive... like when I got in a tight spot I was always going for the diagonal. Out of interest have you tried a build with 'free' movement? I would imagine all the enemy AI would work the same regardless.
On my 3rd life the ship just fired continually to the left and I lost the ability to shoot any other direction... suspect that's one you've seen before.
Keep up the good work... I need to get on with my programming endeavours now my cart shells are in the post!!
Cheers,
cNp

I gave it a quick try on ParaJVE, looped the score counter. 10000 points comes up faster than you think. But it was really nice playing it with my SNES controller (not sure if its already set up for this since I messed around with the button mapping anyway).

Hi I've just tried it : as I reached about 2700 pts, I received 29 lives Well, that's a new one to me I'm looking at limiting the fire, maybe by adding a heat-up bar that fills up the longer you hold the trigger down, and has to empty before you can fire again... or something like that. Oh, and to answer Armour Attack, yes one on the very first builds had free movement, then the ship was intentionally limited to the horizontal and vertical. I'm looking at 360o rotation and free movement in the second one - but don't hold your breath. It's just a collection of half done as separate procedures just now.

I looped the score on my first go too - it could be doing with being a bit more dificult or having less forgiving collision detection. Another game it started with 30 lives and then to 2?, then 2>, 2<, 2= etc.
