Anyone have any video or even screenshots of this hidden game on Protector LE cart? I have the Protector/Yasi cart and love it but was always curious about this game. I played the atari 2600 version man goes down on emulators and really liked it but wanted to see what it was like on vectrex.

Yeah, I've always wondered about this one too, as I also only have the unlimited Protector/Y*A*S*I cart too. Anyone have any video or even screenshots of this hidden game on Protector LE cart? I think VectrexMad has it. Maybe he can be convinced of your request here

I believe I unlocked it on my Protector LE, I'll have a check if I remember.

Cool, I'd like to see how it compares to the atari version.

Hopefully, Mayhem can make a quick video?

No, i've only got the normal version of Protector. Oh, when you had put up the picture of the original game and overlay on the Vectrex wiki, I thought that was yours. But now that I think about it, that game DID come out before you got your first Vectrex anyway, as that game's pretty much impossible to get on ebay (who the hell would sell that, unless they just needed some cash?).

I have a feeling it's a really fun game that barely anyone has gotten to play. Yasi and protector are great games as is the atari 2600 version of the game called man goes down. Wish the author was still around so we could see about some other release of that game.
Of course just seeing something of the game would be nice.

Agreed, as well as the 2600 version, as I also played that one.

Spike goes down is a little bright gem. I've played it a lot, and also made some video from it, I'll see if I can find it. It showcases once more (not that it was necessary) that Alex Herbert is a brilliant programmer, a league of his own. (yes, I'm a big fan ) edit: don't mind my crappy gameplay, but here's a short vid

Thanks! Nice to finally see and hear that one too.
Looks like he did more with Man Goes Down as well, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of change with this one.

Crappy gameplay? Looks like you did well to me. Thanks for posting it. Game does look fun though it seems a bit easier than man goes down and doesn't have the powerups of that game. I do like the spikes on top and bottom of the screen and Spikes's running does animate smoothly.
I would have loved to see this released separately with the additions of man goes down. Or even a separate rom of the original game. Anyone know what happened to Alex Herbert?

Crappy gameplay? Looks like you did well to me. That's what I was thinking too, but maybe he has games that go on for twice that long or something Game does look fun though it seems a bit easier than man goes down and doesn't have the powerups of that game. It might've been a first version, then Man on 2600 could have been second (which I could be wrong, I'm just throwing out some guesses here), which, of course, you can always improve on things the second time around. I would say these games could have maxed out (for most programmers) adding any more if they were at 32K total but I don't think the games are that big (which programmers would have to resort to bankswitching after that, which several of them would rather not do), but again, I could be wrong/I'm just guessing there. Anyone know what happened to Alex Herbert? Someone said something to the effect that he suffered from some malady that would interfere with his programming ability. I didn't know if that meant it was some kind of brain damage or what so I didn't ask. I didn't want to know any further than that, really

Yeah, the man goes down version came after spike goes down. I was never sure if man goes down was just the atari version of spike goes down or if anything was added or removed. Thanks to the video now I know that man goes down was kind of a sequel to the vectrex bonus game. Considering spike goes down was considered just a bonus game for the original protector it's quite well done and would have actually been worth buying on it's own cart.
It's a shame if Alex Herbert did have brain damage. I saw something like that mentioned on atariage forum but nothing clear. I guess you hear that and know that no one has reached him in a while and you expect the worst. Though I'd still hope he got better.

I guess you hear that and know that no one has reached him in a while and you expect the worst. I was one of them, as I contacted him to see if I could ask him a bunch of annoying questions to build a page up about him on the Vectrex wiki. Never heard back from him. By the way, forgot to mention that if he were to ever be able to return to Vectrex stuff (if that's at all possible), the Veclink (or whatever it's called if that's not it) has some pretty killer possibilities, where you hook up two Vectrexes together for a game. That's one thing of his I'd like to see completed and happen.
