Yes, some (and probably not all) copies of Star Sling TE came with an overlay. I must admit, I hadn't noticed that the overlay is slightly different to the original LE version, with a TE in the lower right hand corner. Only noticed that myself after all this time when pulling out my copy of the game just now. So the overlay looks genuine to me, as in it was made by Madtronix and isn't a "repro".

Went for £79 in the end (wow!), did anyone here get it?

Vecmulti is an essential vectrex purchase as far as I'm concerned. While I still want the original carts and overlays it's a great way to instantly acquire the entire vectrex library minus some cart only homebrews. Though on vectrex.biz it shows as sold out. Vec fu is one that only available on a multicart. Plus rare games like dark tower and tour de France are easier to get. Also, great way to play demoscene releases.

Whoa Star Sling is part of the collection that comes on the VecMulti? This will cause me to hasten to buy the VecMulti. I know no other way to get this game anymore. It's offered for free on Vectorzoa's website, but you have to submit a request for it and he no longer responds to those requests apparently. Are there any other difficult to attain games on the VecMulti? I know you can put whatever you want on it, but Richard H. has been shipping them with ROMs already written. ... If I get one of these can I save the ROMs that come on it before I re-write the cart??? Yes, you could easily slip out the SD card and save all the games as a backup before adding your own games and building the menu. I just bought Richard's PCB last week and that's exactly what I did. I too emailed Vectorzoa about Star sling and didn't hear back. But I was happy to discover, indeed, Richard's cart comes pre-loaded with it. I'm currently trying to steer my friend away from buying ebay's pricey Sean Kelly multicart in favor of the VecMulti; he doesn't want to mess finding a DOS machine to build the menu. (All he has are Macs and 8-bit Ataris.) Even if he never adds any ROMs and just uses it stock, it probably has more games than sean kelly's. At least it has several homebrews that arrived after the SK cart. (1999? 2000?) The VecMulti I just purchased (Nov. 2013) came loaded with 57 roms, and I suspect they comprise all anyone would need - or at least - all the games you'd want to play more than once. For the record, they are: I managed to download an additional 20 ROMs and added them to the VecMulti, though I suspect many of them are partially working demos. Incidentally those are: Looking over these, I hear "Tsunami" is incomplete. VFrogger might be the same as "Frogger.bin" above. "WarOfTheRobots" I'll bet is the sam as "WarRobots" on the VecMulti. I understand Mail Plane is dysfunctional, etc etc. In other words, I wonder if any of these would be essential. I'll find out eventually; so far I've only played MineStorm. (Vectrex owner for a whopping 2 weeks now.)

The handling of the VecMulti is a bit more complicated if you want to use more than the initial 56 games but it offers much more flexibility than the SK multicart. Please note that at rec.games.vectrex there's a currently a discussion '*nix/Mac VecFlasher'. Ooops, we're pretty offtopic, now.

Looking over these, I hear "Tsunami" is incomplete. That was a complete game on the Tsunami/VIX cart unless for some reason that file is indeed incomplete for some reason (anyone know?). VFrogger might be the same as "Frogger.bin" above. Yep.

VecMulti builds the menu from the first 13 characters of the file's name. Thankfully the vast majority of names fit within that number, except of course Fortress of Narzod. Some finagling required. My current rom list looks like this:
Action Soccer.bin AllGoodThings.bin AnimAction.bin Armor Attack.bin Art Master.bin Bedlam.bin Berzerk II.bin Berzerk.bin Birds of Prey.bin Blitz.bin Bow2TheQueen.bin Boxing.bin Clean Sweep.bin Continuum.bin Cosmic Chasm.bin Dark Tower.bin Fort O'Narzod.bin Frogger.bin Gravitrex.bin Hyper Chase.bin MadPlanetoids.bin Mail Plane.bin Melody Master.bin Minestorm II.bin Moon Lander.bin Nagoya Attack.bin NebulaCommand.bin Omega Chase.bin OmegaChaseDlx.bin Patriots III.bin Patriots.bin Pitchers Duel.bin Polar Rescue.bin Pole Position.bin Protector.bin ReadMe.txt Repulse.bin Revector.bin Rip-Off.bin Robot Lord.bin Rockroids.bin Rounders.bin Royal 21.bin Scramble.bin Solar Quest.bin Space Frenzy.bin Space Wars.bin Spectrum.bin Spike Hoppin.bin Spike Skiing.bin Spike.bin Spin Ball.bin Star Castle.bin Star Hawk.bin Star Sling.bin Star Trek.bin Test Cart 4.bin Thrust.bin TourDeFrance.bin Trackers.bin Tsunami.bin VecFu.bin Vecmania 1.bin Vecmania 2.bin VecSpo Boxing.bin Vectopia.bin Vector 21.bin Vector Vaders.bin Vectrace.bin Vectrexians.bin Verzerk.bin Vix.bin VortexBird.bin War of Robots.bin Water Balloons.bin Web Wars.bin Wormhole.bin

^- Hey I thought I remembered you saying "one game a month" was your goal with Vectrex, "like in the old days"[sic]. .. I don't know the attributes of the Sean Kelly cart, besides that people pay a lot of money for them. But the ability to re-write different ROMs to the VecMulti (or VecFlash in my case) is quite essential. It's really exciting when someone comes out with something new and some of the demos are a lot of fun. Plus you can mess around with Vectorzoa's VecDraw tool AND DISPLAY YOUR OWN VECTOR OBJECTS ON VECTREX. That is quite awesome for me, and it does NOT require programming knowledge. True most demos etc are not something you would spend much time with, but using that argument I really wouldn't need a multicart at all, as the (GCE) cartridges are easier to get than the overlays and many of the best games are either cart only or are only fully functional on cartridge. There are a small number of games that really occupy 90% of my Vectrex gaming time. (Web Wars, I,Cyborg, War of the Worlds, Protector, Gravitrex Plus, Vector Pilot, Pole Position, Fortress of Narzod). And among those the only one that can adequately be played with a multicart is Narzod, (because it has a rather generic overlay which is not a big part of the game). I don't see Labyrinth by Chris Salomon on the VecMulti list. That is an (old) demo that is definitely worth checking out. Again not one that you can spend a ton of time with, but one that is very cool to see in action. Also of course now you can try out the new playable version of Mail Plane! BTW xefned, thanks for notifying that it is possible to back up the contents of VecMulti. I just noticed that post. .. As far as I know it is not possible to do that on VecFlash.

^- Hey I thought I remembered you saying "one game a month" was your goal with Vectrex, "like in the old days"[sic]. Your memory is correct. It's true - I have a multicart full of games - but thus far I've only played Minestorm, Berzerk, and Minestorm II. !!! Meanwhile, my kids are playing Clean Sweep, Frogger, Rockaroids, Spike Goes Skiing, etc. They don't understand the purpose of such anal retentive self-discipline. I'm just trying to stretch out the fun. Why [sic]? is that because we didn't really have enough paper route money to buy 1 game per month? With me it was more like 4 games per year. The first year I had an Atari 2600, I played nothing but Defender, Warlords, Atlantis, and Ms. Pac Man - and occasionally Enduro when my friend Jon brought over his copy. BTW xefned, thanks for notifying that it is possible to back up the contents of VecMulti. I just noticed that post. .. As far as I know it is not possible to do that on VecFlash. Right, with the VecMulti, you pop out the SD card and put it in a card reader - it mounts on your desktop like an external drive. One's natural response is to back it up. Although a backup is only to grab the hard-to-obtain roms like Star Sling and Vectrexians. I've been gradually adding roms to a thumbdrive as my "master copy;" I imagine rebuilding the VecMulti's menu is something one only does a couple times per year. I am insane. But I am making a short video on the VecMulti...

I used [sic] incorrectly. .. My intention was to indicate that my quotation of you was not an exact quotation, but just the way I remembered, or the nature of what you said as I remembered it. I've always wished that that was what [sic] meant, or that there was another notation for that.

The Vectorzoa page says only the "Premium Limited Edition" of Star Sling comes with instructions. So that means there's only 25 copies of the instructions in the world.
Anyone want to scan it in for us limited edition cretins?
