Well not entirely new - had one when they were first released in the UK, so happy to have one now Ive already got a multicart for it and some of the best homebrew games too however I have a niggling problem - the menu text on the multicart and on vecmania is unreadable, the text is almost completely flat, all games play fine but navigating through a multicart isn't easy (even with a print out of the menu!) does anyone know the cause of the problem? When I first received the veccy (in the best swap ive ever done by the way) the only thing I had to replace was the sound chip as the music and sounds were a mess - thankfully I found a replacement chip on ebay The vectrex is still my favourite home machine by far - its like a mini arcade machine

I've never been too sure (Subzero, where's your troosers?!)... I have three Vectrex units myself and they all display menu text such as this differently. One is perfect, one is slightly slanted, and one is extremely slanted. I've just accepted it and dealt with it over the years.

Hello and welcome! My own Vectrex does slant the text some but not that much. Given the age of these consoles, I think we should be thankful they work as well as they do. I wish there was a place that one could send them to to have them checked and "adjusted." to work perfectly.

I wish there was a place that one could send them to to have them checked and "adjusted." to work perfectly. Yeah, you have to check around electronic places in order to get them fixed. Subzero, can you not get into your other account? Do you want me to delete it, and just use this one you're currently posting with?

I have several Vectrexes but I mainly play on one of them. So I didn't realize this slanty text thing was different between machines. ... What I did notice is that I mostly only get the slanted text on Dondzila games. Maybe other homebrews, but not that I remember. Never had it on any of the original games that I recall. oh and my god protector is harder than defender!! Try it with a converted SNES or Genesis pad. It is way easier and it's the only way I'm able to get high scores. The button layout and orientation on the vec controller is very difficult for Protector. The buttons are too spread out for to use one thumb, but too small to hammer on like in the arcade. ... The SNES pad is worth it (around $50 from recycledgamer.com) just for playing Protector.

So I didn't realize this slanty text thing was different between machines. Yeah, you can get some of the "vector drift" on them. What I did notice is that I mostly only get the slanted text on Dondzila games. Maybe other homebrews, but not that I remember. It's on Vectrace too...
