So what is "Nagoya" anyway? Japanese for "invader"? Well, "invader" in Japanese is this: 侵略者 No clue if that reads "nagoya"

This game is awesome, but I can't escape how funny it is that a system with a game titled Yet Another Space Invaders got yet another Space Invaders game

My high score is 2200 on level 11 - a major hint for progress is right here: The 'Nagoya Attack'/'Death Row'/'Nagoya Technique' in Space Invaders is when you allow the invaders to reach the last row (where they do not shoot back) so you can clear the level safely with timed shots.

Downloaded it. Played it. Liked it!
I have to say that the game play is very fluid but rather challenging.

Well I tested it out on emulator real quick. I'll try it on Vectrex soon. ... I like the sound and music! It kind of has a comical rhythm to it. The whole thing has a lot of character to it, I guess using a minimum of elements. Very economical design I think.
It seems to look and play pretty smoothly for a beta, (on an emulator at least). I did peak at your video of it playing on Vectrex though and it looks pretty smooth there too. ... Was there much work involved in getting the graphics to display properly on Vectrex?
Also, it looks like the file size of this game (<8K) is within the range of the original GCE size limitations, which I think is pretty cool. Was that a goal?

Hi, thanks for all your comments.
Glip - to answer your question, no it was not developed to fit under 8k, thats just the size it compiled to. Tbh, i could probably shave a bit off that, theres definately some unused code and data compiled in there too as its still in development. Nagoya attack was knocked up in about a week of evenings programming. This is intended to be a second 'bonus' game on a cart i'll be releasing in coming months, with another space shooter. I have a few more games in dev too right now, including a version of the arcade game 'death race'. I shall be releasing a beta for that soon too.
Cheers,
Chris

Thanks for your effort and the extra infos on your Vectrex development, Chris! Very interesting to hear that you've written up Nagoya Attack that quickly. And even better to hear that more games are in pipeline. :-) Note: I've posted a short article at my Vectrex website (all in German, but readable using an online translator)

I've played with it for a while yesterday, and the big arcade and invaders fan I am really like where you're going with this! The basic is already pretty challenging and addicting.. I'll be happy to do some playtesting if you like. Nice! I'll fire it up later on to see what score I can set in the beta

and the big arcade and invaders fan I am Same here I was going to say the other day that it was good that the game was only 7K, which a lot more could be added to it, but with it being a bonus game that's still cool. (Shame on KQ for making the infamous Death Race as the other game though...tsk, tsk )

Cool game and especially excited that this is only considered a bonus game for an upcoming release. Cool to finally have a vectrex game with both music and sound effects. Look forward to future versions and future releases from the author.

Also, thanks for the info about the Nagoya attack in general. I first heard of it as a technique in space invaders infinity gene. If you were close to an enemy their shot would go right through you if timed right. Now I know that is based off the technique in the original space invaders. Also, I looked up the word Nagoya and it came up that it is a Japanese city. I'm guessing the technique either originated from or became popular in that city.
