So I thought there was already a thread for this, but I looked and didn't see it. (I thought I had started such a thread, but search "brainstorm" yielded diiferent results.) There is the 'Games that Should Come Out" thread, but I wanted something more specifically devoted to new ideas. (If this is duplicate thread please direct me to the original and delete this one)
Anybody have any ideas?

... My most recent idea is for a very S L O W M O V I N G shooter. It would be a crazy change of pace for the genre.
Why would you take a genre based on fast and hectic action and turn it into a slow moving game? Where's the challenge?
My idea is that it would be a top down view and your ship would be LARGE, almost like a moving fortress, (more like a "Boss" than a fighter ship). This vessel would have multiple weapon functions, including perhaps rotating turrets.
There would be lot of anticipation of the oncoming targets because it would take time to aim and command your weapons, and sometimes you would see them approaching for a long time and go crazy trying to eliminate them before they hit you.
... The few games that I can think of that are at all like this are games where you have either a cockpit view or a map view. But this game would have a standard 3rd person view where you could see your ship in an area.
Part of the concept of being big and slow moving is that this player "sprite" could be a complicated and cool looking vector object, with moving parts. ... Also these slow movements could be accurately displayed and seen with vector graphics, which would not be possible in a raster display, (at least not in a retro game).
... The more general idea of 'controlling a boss' must have been done before, but I can't think of any good examples.
... Elaborating on that idea, it might cool to have a 'boss vs fighter ship' game with a 2 player option, with one player controlling the boss and the other controlling the ship. I'm pretty sure I've heard of a console game that has that as a feature at one point in the game. Would be cool to build a whole game around that concept though.
