Haha! Wonderful last-second bid war! Who grabbed Pepijn's copy (one of 10 Vectorzoa ever created)? I know Helmut's been looking for this for some time... linkI'm just reeling that my 133 euro bid (which I organized all week), was blown so far out of the water

It wasn't THAT far out the water, but I figured this one might go big. Not me, as I already owned it from when Alex sold it at Eurocon 2007. I believe Alex sold nine, he kept one for himself, although that copy may have been sold in the past.

What holiday is it over there? I take it it's more than a bank holiday...

It's the summer vacation as we call it... In the period july /august most west european countries the schools are closed for 6-8 weeks in which everyone goes on holiday. Business are open, but a lot of people are abroad or take leave

Duh, of course! Especially since my sister's a teacher and she only has a few meetings and a couple of other things here and there over the months (until about August). But with my living in a big city it's not a huge change though

Yeah, selling isn't usually a good idea in July and August because people tend to be away and/or spending money elsewhere...

yeah.. You can offer, but no low attracting bids. Of course you could go offering with reserves (via ebay.com, .nl doesn't offer that option to private sellers) but I've personally never liked that so I'm not using it.. For the more common stuff, it's really low now.. Especially since Germany and France in holiday as well now. Gonna give it a break. Ah well.. person to person deals still going here and there. Time to PLAY games instead of trading I guess haha Path of Exile at the moment mostly though haha (Seems like an excellent challenge, writing an ARPG for the Vec by the way )

Yeah, selling isn't usually a good idea in July and August because people tend to be away and/or spending money elsewhere... Then again, you have the occasional oddball auction that closes at a much higher price than the item is valued. Take this ordinary copy of GoldenEye 64, for instance, which sold for $20 today. A half an hour later, this listing for the same game ends at half price (about $11 after shipping) without attracting any bidders. People on eBay with their capricious bidding habits never cease to astound (or entertain) me!

Right, desfeek, Helmut had been looking for Solar Wars. ;-)
Ebay auctions are really a strange thing. A recent Vectrex related example: In May, a Minestorm II was listed with a starting price of $249, it had no bids and didn't sell. One month later, the same Minestorm II is listed without starting price and that auction ends with 33 bis and a maximum bid of $565. Overpaid and very strange to me.

I have been selling some of my Hallmark collectible ornaments. I've listed some at price X. One week goes by, no bids. I relist the same item at lower price Y. It suddenly gets 5 or 6 bids and ends up at a price higher than the original price X I had posted it for. Go figure!
