The Light Pen is both reproduced and has how to articles to make your own. The games are also available for download, so a budget gamer can have their Light Pen. The 3D Imager is a different story. The games are available for download but there are really only bits and pieces of a how to article to make the unit itself plus you still have to source and make your own color wheels. I can't help with the Imager itself but I looked online for the clear plastic CD topper to make the color wheel and couldn't find it. Haven't gone to Staples or Walmart to see if they still have CD blanks with the topper but I did find out that you can separate a blank CD into two haves with Aircraft Stripper and at least one side comes out clear(though on a Memorex it had a bluish tint).

BTW, I tried to play the 2D Narrow Escape Hack and the collision detection was really bad.

I'm more interested in coming up with or bringing to light a more affordable and easily accessible Imager and Color Wheels from a DIY Article. Unfortunately, time has proven that almost every Vectrex accessory professional made eventually becomes no longer available. I expect that someone will use a walkman/ portable cd player as a basis like has been done in the past. They're cheap and easily accessible. Based on your thread, a good idea for this execution might be taking 2 half and sandwiching the color in between.

I've got the Madtronix 3D Imager too. It took forever (half a year?) between payment & receipt. It works great. Not too comfy, though. I tried contacting recently him to ask how he made his wheels, but no response.
As for your sandwich idea, I've thought about that & discarded it. 3 layers all adding up to .020" requires some mighty thin layers, & I can't use adhesive on the planar surfaces to hold it together, lest I obscure the transparency, & I can't really extend or build up the perimeter to make a clamping area, either... :\
Keep the ideas coming! :]
Thanks, -Jason

I'd guess it's another Vectrex MIA homebrewer once more, as he said on his site it would be updated in a few days and that was like a year ago or something. Still the same pages.

I think it would be cool if the next homebrew 3D imager were mounted on a cabinet that the Vectrex would fit inside. So there would be a shroud (like Battlezone) rather than a headset. ... This would also be cool, in my opinion, for non-3D Imager games that still have "3D" content, like Web Wars and Starhawk.
