At the moment I'm using notepad++ , the built in asm lexer is ok, but I;ve not had any luck with the code folding, I've event tried enabling it by sending commands to the scite lexer... it works once and then stops.
I looked at making a custom 6809 language define for np++ but that will take some time, does anyone have one already on a preference for an editor, features I want
code folding - prefer explicit by setting a delimiter eg. ;{ custom colour schemes custom font asm syntax highlighting execute a batch file from the editor for building

I use VIM (http://www.vim.org/download.php), it colour-codes 6809 asm but lacks code folding. I think you can set up a compiler with it but I have never done that as I use batch scripts from the command line.

Here is my current user defined language for Notepad++, originally my friend at work made it for dragon32 6809. But I've adapted it a bit for vectrex, added a few things such as highlighting of Bios Routines (use the labels from the common VECTREX.I include file. The only thing I might add at some point, is adding highlighting for as09 directives such as macros. Code folding you can do using comments like ;{ will start a block you want to fold and ;} at the end will finish it off as in the pic below you can see I've collapsed a few big sections of code, + button in the margin will expand it. The colors are not amazing, but you can change them to suit you. To install go to the "language" menu then click "define your language" Then import it. Vectrex6809NPP_UDL_V1.xml

For executing I use NPPEXEC plugin with this script:
npp_save CD $(CURRENT_DIRECTORY) AS09COMP.BAT
press F6 (or ctrl f6) It saves the current file and then runs the batch file.
I then reload the rom in ParaJVE

I also now use an autoit script to open ParaJVE if its not already, focus the window and reload the rom, I won't post that unless anyone is interested as its specific to my pc with paths of stuff and mouse click locations depend on resolution you are running in. It has to be a little elaborate because ParaJVE is written in Java so the gui is harder to automate. I probably wouldn't of bothered if ParaJVE had a hotkey for reloading rom (I couldnt find one)

Right, I think the problem is that right click saving the link actually saves the dropbox webpage!! so left click on it, then download using the button on the top right of the dropbox page it takes you to.

When you right click save, it calls it the same file name .xml! I tried it myself today and it said unable to import, so I opened the xml file and it had a load of html stuff
saving it via dropbox download button worked and imported fine. When it says import successful you might need to restart notepad and or select the language option at the bottom of the language menu.

You kids today with your fancy pants IDEs! In my day we still use notepad and .bat files and we like it! Um, when I first learned programming we wrote the code out on a real notepad, with a pencil... Then booked time on a terminal to type it into the mini... God, i'm feeling old
