It sounds good but earthquakes are a real turn off for me. If they ever move to the middle of the country that is fine with me. Tornados are rough but tolerable.

LOL! I've lived in LA for almost 13 years (minus one year in Silicon Valley) and the earthquakes aren't so bad. You get used to them like in that scene from LA Story.

That place would have to be HUGE to have all those games that they have listed! Well, I dropped by there today. It's crap. I mean, it's a good trendy bar (if you're into that) but no vector games (useless!) and the games they have are all apparently MAME cabinets or some other sort of multi. There are about a dozen uprights, a few cocktails. Some are horizontal, others vertical orientation. Running something called iCade, looked like 10 pages of choices (6 games per page?). I saw a few Pac-Man/Ms. Pac-Man sessions, a Scramble, Dig Dug, Rally-X, Galaxian, maybe. There was at least one that was a dedicated trak-ball machine (not sure how the menu was set up for it), others were joysticks. So, no real dedicated arcade machines. I suppose that cuts down on the maintenance costs? Modern guts, no vectors or other weird hardware that might die or burst into flames. At least the young crowd was into the games (a plus, I suppose, they have some respect for the classics), there were no open machines for me to try and I wasn't interested in waiting for a MAME cab. Games are free, I think, and the bar has a great selection of alcohol. But I don't see myself going there on purpose anytime soon, I'll wait for that Old Town Pasadena arcade to open up.

I would say "sounds like false advertising", but then on their site they probably didn't state they were individual cabs for each one or anything There are about a dozen uprights, a few cocktails. Running something called iCade, looked like 10 pages of choices (6 games per page?). Yeah, I know what you're talking about, those are like the 60-in-1 Jamma boards or something. I see a couple of those at a local gaming expo (where the majority of machines are individual, REAL cabs!). Scramble doesn't sound right, the warp function on Pleiades doesn't function and the like; yeah, I know them all too well.

Just to be clear, I was talking about The One Up being crap (with a really good bar). I don't think the Pasadena arcade is open yet. But I'll definitely try that one out when it is.

Wohoo! So now the question is do I watch the Super Bowl or go to the arcade? It really is the '80's all over again!

neonretroarcade.com/Went to the Neon Retro Arcade last night. Small, clean, most of the games in great condition, all that I played were functional (except for Moon Patrol & Zaxxon P2 start buttons), almost all monitors were in tip-top shape. $10/hour. Not much else in the way of drinks, ambiance, etc. Some new consoles & tables in back. Not crowded (late Monday night), plenty of space between games, obligatory 80s & 90s music not played at an overwhelming volume. 2 owners super friendly & nice. 3 pins: Earthshaker, Pinbot, World Cup '95. Vectors: Gravitar & Space Duel, both in wonderful condition. Like! Thanks, -Jason

Sounds good. Not overly blasting music is usually rare too.
