It good to see people making an effort like this but it is all so easy for any retro game enterprise to fail,I wish them the best of luck though.

Yep, they're costly to startup, maintain, and bring and keep a crowd, unfortunately.

They're in a cool location, though. I've been to that sausage shop/restaurant that they're right next to, that place is always crowded. Some spill-over to another place with beer that has video games might work out pretty good.

Why did I move out of LA? I used to go to this place in Glendale that had a bunch of 80's coin ops. I now live in Silicon Valley and strangely enough I have to go to the Santa Cruz boardwalk to play the old beat-up cabinets they have there.

By the way, it's nice that these guys have been friends since they were kids. They look like they could even be brothers too!

It's right around the corner both in location, and for the next date.

The LA Weekly says that there's a new arcade bar that will open in Downtown L.A. called EightyTwo. Great name for the place! Haha, that's the first thing I thought of too. We should meetup for the next California Extreme (CAX). It's right around the corner both in location, and for the next date. Unfortunately I can't go to that, but if any of you guys want to do me a BIG favour then please please play Moon Quake and make a long video of the gameplay. It's this game btw - it was part of CAX 2012 (and who knows - it may be back). www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzxS_GO9eN0 (Moon Quake is shown briefly at around 21:30). I just love isometric games - and this one looks great, but there was ever one one prototype-cabinet made and it has never been emulated...and there's NO videos of it online (that I can find anyway), so if someone makes a good video of this they'd not only make me happy - they'd document something that desperately needs it.

Updated the link for you. Sure thing, I'll play it if it's at CAX 2014. I have played so many games, but I don't think I have ever played Moon Quake yet. I was at 2012 too.

^Good lord, definitely! Because our H. A. A. G. expos here in Houston are no slouches either, but then when I started looking at past game rosters for the Extreme shows I saw where our expos pale in comparison, sort of "California Extreme Jr." if you will.

...which seems to indicate that Space Duel, Asteroids and Tempest at least will represent the vector side of arcade machines. And Lunar Lander too!
