Hi,
I'd like to record some of my Vectrex music soon - has anyone modded their vectrex to give an audio line out before? Just curious as to where on the case you added your connection and where you took the audio feed from - direct from the chip or from the speaker connection? Any advice is appreciated as I'm planning to mod mine as soon as I buy a second 'backup' machine.
Cheers!

I could be wrong, but I don't think anyone's done this before. Crazy all the stuff that's still being done to everyone's favorite vector console

I would tap directly after C323.

You could grab line-level audio from the top side of the board like this: Although I haven't tested this theory yet. Unfortunately, it's close enough to the power transformer that it could pick up some audible hum. Probably not as bad as the post-amp Vectrex buzz. Bringing the wires together shortly and twisting tightly might buck some of that hum. But it's a very short trip to the front panel from here. I just verified with the schematic, and I think that should get you the audio right after the audio coupling cap. Let us know how it goes!

Thanks very much, I'll try as soon as I have a backup Vectrex (I blew a SID chip in a Commodore 64 once before, so I'm a bit wary of plugging direct to chips , don't want to wind up with a slient Vectrex)

I've got a broken Vectrex on the bench so I'll try it out and let you know how it works out.

I'm curious as well. Usually this would involve unipolar to bipolar voltage conversion / driving and impedance matching.
