Hi guys, newbie Vectrex user alart! I recently got hold of a really lovely as new condition Vectrex, it really is in such a nice condition I don't think it has ever been used. However because of it's age and as is the case with a lot of old consoles it needs re capping, I have the caps and I know someone who can do it for me, but I have a dilemma, whilst the caps are being fitted, I have the option of adding a De-Buzz kit is this the right thing to do? am I destroying something that makes the Vectrex unique or am I fixing something that the original manufactures would have done themselves if they could have back in the day? I'd be interested to hear what you guys think?

My opinion falls into three camps: - It's a classic. Why are you modifying a Vectrex attribute recognizable as one of the quirks to a large part of the Vectrex manufacturing run, and personae.
- Mod it up to make the best Vectrex possible!
- Leave well enough alone. If all your Vectrex needs right now is an alignment, then be happy with a working Vectrex rather than a Vectrex with traces loosened by overheating during the component replacements/modifications.
So pick your goals and run with them whatever they are.

I'd play with it first (unless the graphics are too badly messed up to be able to enjoy it) to see if you wouldn't mind the buzz being gone or not.
Personally I'm planning on getting mine done whenever something goes wrong with it, but then I've had mine for over 25 years.

I like the buzzing sound. It comforts me.

You know what... I've deceived to keep the buzz, it's part of what makes the Vectrex a Vetrex
