Balloon Fight is a more dynamic game especially with the Balloon Trip mode.

Of course its not legal, but you can get away with it if you release it for free Ideally under a pseudonym. Get it out onto the internet before they have a chance to send you a cease and desist. If on the other hand you intend to make a cart to sell, then they are more likely to come after you and you risk a lot more. I gotta admit. I'm a bit curious how that would play out in a world as small as our little timeless vectrex society. Would it even be worth their lawyer's time lifting a finger to dial the phone? I ask because Defender is also a Williams title. And I know a run of 100 Protector cartridges were produced and sold according to the wiki. Do you think the copyright holders even noticed? |

Difference - it wasn't called Defender, Stargate or anything similar. Trademarks on names are a lot easier to defend than gameplay infringements.

It's Mayhem's now and he claims that it's pretty much just the mechanics of player. Unfortunately, Joust Evolution is just a piece of history. We just have to hope that someone else makes a good version in the future.
