Hi there! I am currently working on my very first game for the Vectrex. Here's a Youtube video of some gameplay from an Alpha build: Youtube linkI hope to have a playable version to be shown to the "public" at a Swedish retrogaming convention in May! Thanks to Parabellum for ParaJVE/JVD and Christopher Salomon for his excellent Vectrex documentation

Wow, a few months about Chris Malcolm (binarystar) released a game called Hex inspired by Hexagon but this is a different take on it.

Excellent work on the port! Yeah, i'm currently working on a super hexagon inpsired game but as you have already done a port I think I'll change the design of my game a bit and make it stage based instead of a continuous survival game. My game has spinner controls so will feel quite different. Early alpha is here : www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xpkg6DsIOJU

Now this IS a lot closer to the original, and you've even managed to ape the music pretty well I know you didn't survive TOO long in the video, does it get quicker at any point? It looked a little slow still by comparison.

Xefned - I'm not abadoning Hex. I have already had a few ideas for a new direction for the gameplay so it will deviate quite a bit from super hexagon by the time i'm done with it.

The Vectrex has been long over due for support, games and developers. So it's good to see people coming out of the woodworks.

I hope to have a playable version to be shown to the "public" at a Swedish retrogaming convention in May! I hope you can take some video footage of the place! And I hope the game gets well-received.

Really great to see more and more Vectrex developers, around. Your Vectrexagon makes me even more dizzy when looking at it than Hex. ;-) The space ship could look a bit more vector-like (not filled graphics), apart from that the game looks great. Well done, sdw!

I'm not familiar with the original but the graphics seem perfectly suited to Vectrex. Very smooth and satisfying to look at. .. Definitely needs an overlay! .. I hope you can have some controls options to make it compatible with various controller types, like existing spinners, as mentioned previously i think. Thanks for sharing this video with us.

Thanks for all the positive comments, much appreciated!
My apologies to binarystar, I was unaware that a Hexagon-remake was already in the making for the Vectrex. Perhaps there is a place for both.
If I may say so my self, the strong point of my remake is the wonderful cover of the music made by Yerzmyey, a real master on the AY-chip, he usually works on the ZX Spectrum, but I managed to convince him to support the Vectrex by doing a cover of the Super Hexagon music.
Regarding the difficulty level, yes, the game does speed up considerably after a while, but I am not sure if the difficulty is at the right level or not at the moment.
I will keep you updated once there is more news.
