I have a few of Richard Hutchinson's Vectrex products including his VecMulti multicart. Today over on the Facebook group another fb member "Sarj Shah" posted an image of the VecMulti just received. Really liking the current 3D Printed (FDM) cart colours he used. Black text on red case looks great. The font change also looks good. goo.gl/photos/8PnBUdMMBWtmMUoq5Previous pics of my orange cart and SK Cart comparisons. goo.gl/photos/neRqpLg8YSJxSRTr8

Fancy multicolor print!
Is it fastened with screws?

The case is a snap-fit design. No screws. As I understand it from Richard, the lettering is adhesive backed cut vinyl glued to the case.

I very much appreciate that Richard H. continues the production of flashable cartrigdes. This is very important and essential to offer players and testers the possibility to run binaries on real hardware. Thank you, Richard!
But to be honest, I prefer the original cartridge case design and quality to 3D printed cartridges. Though, the good thing and improvement of the above multicartridge is the accessible SD card. FAIK, in old VecMultis you had to open the cartridge to "flash" the SD card.

There were probably problems with cart shell supply so this is a work around, rather than a best practice scenario. .. On a consumer printer this package would take several hours to print and is probably not a reasonable option for volume production. But probably a very good option for the end user, just printing one shell.
.. I printed the first half of a regular Vectrex shell last week at the public library, using print ready files somebody else posted on thingiverse. Hopefully when I print the other half it fits together properly. .. I did have to do a bit of filing to get a game PCB to mount inside.

If you like the original case design ask Richard about it. He can also print a standard case.
Richard's usage of his own case designs is both an advantage for memory card access, and also in keeping with request and courtesy.
But once you get the cart from Richard there is nothing preventing you from moving the board to Sean Kelly reproduction Vectrex game cartridge cases.

i got one of the new vecmulti's a few days ago also, i decided to take it apart and spray the entire case black instead of default red colour, as i decided black theme seems to go/more suited with the vectrex i added the developer option also (3pin connecter) ps. when my vecmulti arrived it was glued shut so it wasnt particularly easy to take the casing apart (you can see in the pic below the rough edges of the casing where i used a small screwdriver to get the lid off). i didnt apply new glue afterwards so the cover can now simply be pushed/pulled on/off (mind you, i shouldnt need to go in there again)

I believe that color is pretty irrelevant as Richard probably just uses what is either cheapest to obtain or what he might have on hand.
Perhaps heat or a solvent would be the best way to open the case without damage from prying.

These have been out for a while now; Down the Rabbit Hole did a video on them back in July or something:

These have been out for a while now; Down the Rabbit Hole did a video on them back in July or something: This video shows a VecFlash which you flash using an USB connection. I'm not 100% sure but I assume VecMulti works differently, i.e. you simple copy the binary files on the SD card. EDIT: In the video both VecFlash and VecMulti @8':32" are presented.

But the thing that bothers me is how the PCB contacts stick out beyond the shell. .. What makes the developer option a developer option? What can you do with the 3pin connector?

you can add a 3pin (or 4pin, but one pin is not used) connector to the vecmulti cartridge, so that, along with having the default microsd card option of using files with the vecmulti cartridge, you can also use a cable like this: USB to RS232/TTL Cablewww.ebay.co.uk/itm/350900210088to connect the vectrex to your pc or laptop using USB. you use the GND, TXD and RXD wires only (not the VCC 5volts wire) you can then use a program (included) called vecmulti.exe to send the files using your cable to the vecmulti cartridge... useful for programmers who are making ongoing small changes to their code and want to test quickly, without having to keep moving the microsd card to and from their vectrex/pc. dev mode is activated when the vecmulti cartridge is operated without a microsd card inserted.

Where can you get one of these? Vectrex.biz seems to only give me an error.

Send Richard an email (it's been a while, I can't recall what it is off hand, some one can help hopefully). Or he's on AtariAge, so you can PM him there if you're a member.
