To minimize confusion, you will be able to immediately identify the updated version on the opening splash screen. The new version has a dash on each side of my name. Attachments:

George, No need to replace mine. If you can't get it to work, that means your Vectrex needs to be adjusted, and I will just make those adjustments if I need to. I you want to send me one anyway, I won't send it back...

Ok, just noticed the updates to this thread. I started up my Vectrex and did a quick measurement using my fingers. The opening screen outer border/rectangle of moving lines isn't centered. Rough estimate the gap on the left side is 1 1/2 times as wide as the right side. I believe it's also slightly twisted counter-clockwise, the upper right corner is slightly higher than the upper left corner, barely noticeable. So, my Vectrex needs some help, haahaha.
How would I get that adjusted? A local TV repair shop/electronics shop, I suppose?

Yeah, I had mentioned that elsewhere. Might have to look around a bit in order to find one that will service a product that's like an old tv, since the Vectrex has quite a few off the shelf parts that work with tvs.

LedZep, I'll replace the PCB. As stated, the calibration system now has the potential to go well above and beyond any normal fix, so it's likely that it will correct your system's weaknesses for Warrior. I know I've already said this, but in these extreme cases of calibration you will be playing with the overlay pits only, toggling off the vector pits.

Thanks for the replacement, I finally got it into the cart and played it at work. I was able to align the pits so that they matched up with the overlay (pit lines off) so now it works with my misaligned Vectrex. And I suck at this game, haahaha. But the graphics and gameplay are just like the arcade version. Great work!

Can you post a video? Here at work? Probably not. I don't have anything for video capture, anyway, unfortunately.

Morning, I've received my Warrior parcel from George, brilliantly packaged up, no chance of damage! Thanks for your continued support of the Vectrex homebrew scene George. Initial impressions, really nice box, lovely quality printing, vivid colours, and sturdy card. The inner holds the cart nicely in place and is easy enough to get in and out. The instruction book is nice quality too and has plenty of detail. I would have liked a number sticker on the packaging for the edition but it's on the games attract screen which is the most important place! The overlay is a little thick to slot easily in to either of my Vectrexes, perhaps because of the way the white backing is done. The colours are a little washed out on the border compared to the box, I think this is more because of the plastic they are behind rather than having been printed less vividly than the box. It's a great looking overlay image-wise and the pits make it a rare game where the overlay is more than just aesthetic. The cart itself looks really good with a well printed label, top marks. I've played 5 times on two player, the opponents are really well drawn with nice variations and different play styles. Once I realised what was going on with the 3rd opponent (the clue's in the name) I got past him and onto the 4th (and last?) opponent... he's the one you're warned to watch out for in the instructions... he came out swinging wildly and I can't see any way I'd ever beat him... maybe with practice I could get him in the pits but I lost 10-3 twice. cNp

Chris, the issue with calibration has been fixed. Read LedZep's follow-up post. Your post is unclear the way you've written it, so I will explain for those reading. When Chris says "box" he's referring to a rectangular box that is used on the calibration screen. He is not referring to the Vectrex screen or the pits or anything else during the gameplay. The manual states that you should center the warrior within the box to calibrate, but this varies greatly from Vectrex-to-Vectrex. As stated in the manual: "Note that if your Vectrex display is extremely out of alignment, it is unlikely that you will be able to perfectly align the game. The calibration system will still improve your experience." So, you align it the best you can and play the game. Also, calibration has NOTHING to do with collision detection in regards to the two warriors, so your assumption is wrong there. Any calibration done for the warrior, is also done to your opponent. If your sword is forward, you can still be hit from the sides Chris! That is how the game is played. You wrote: "On 2 player I found I easily went into the pits but the opponent could travel across them and seldom died by doing so. Also if I had swords locked then I was less likely to fall in" You simply haven't aligned the pits properly. If necessary, align the pits again and test it to perfect it where the warriors fall in correctly. If needed turn off the vector pits. You are aligning the warrior falls with the overlay pits. The sword position does not change your collision detection with the pits. That is just an incorrect assumption on your part. You wrote: "My 7yo son beat me easily three times as I was the one moving in and he just swung his sword; I could find no way to get a hit in by being the aggressor... any tips?" Yes, I'd say ask your 7 year old son for tips on how to play ;D Seriously, if your son is swinging his sword, and you're walking in you're bound to get hit. Do I have to explain this, really? Use your sword to guard, or swing to hit him. It's not a deep scenario. Just like the original arcade game, some bouts are quick, and in some bouts the warriors get tangled up. It's two knights swinging swords. (Anyway, a tip: If your son likes to stay in one spot, approach from above or beneath. You'll notice that the warriors have an automated half-angled turn. Now your sons technique is crippled. Guard by positioning your sword to the side of your warrior closest to your son's warrior...) I do appreciate your review, and please don't take offense at what I'm about to say. It always surprises me when someone posts something like this without emailing me first. Chris, you have been in constant contact with me by email regarding your shipment, but chose to post your questions here rather than emailing me. Certainly your choice, BUT your public comments are sort of irresponsible in my opinion. Both "issues" are non-issues, but you will cause worry with people still awaiting their shipments. Summary... 1) Calibrate it the best you can. Calibration does not affect warrior-to-warrior collisions (sword-to-sword, sword-to-warrior, warrior-to-warrior). 2) Holding your sword forward does not make you invincible. That would be really fun!

Morning, I've edited my post and will ask questions offline George; I only asked here as there was previous calibration discussion that benefited everyone who has received the game so far; as I said I think my issues are from not having played the original and calibration. Thanks for tips on beating my 7yo! He even offered to "go easy on me" if I agreed to play him again... the humiliation! cNp
