I've played 5 times on two player, the opponents are really well drawn with nice variations and different play styles. Once I realised what was going on with the 3rd opponent (the clue's in the name) I got past him and onto the 4th (and last?) opponent... he's the one you're warned to watch out for in the instructions... he came out swinging wildly and I can't see any way I'd ever beat him... maybe with practice I could get him in the pits but I lost 10-3 twice. George has a way of doing that, like with the bosses on I, Cyborg and the second one on Sectis, where it can take a while to figure out how to get past them, but then you should eventually be able to.

George - Has the obviously large variances between one Vectrex and another been a surprise to you? Do you test games on more than one Vectrex before the games are released? I guess for a developer that presents a real headache.

Chris, didn't expect you to edit your post! I appreciate it, and no problem at all. Thanks for understanding. Yes SJ, I have four machines and also have someone else who tests them on their two machines. Usually you don't have these types of variances be all that noticeable, but it is to be expected with Warrior because people are trying to line things up with an overlay. I don't think that any other game has done that. So you have vector pits, overlay pits, and warriors falling in, and if your Vectrex is off a bit then you almost always will want to eliminate the vector pits (the option is in the game). Out of my four units, one works perfectly with no calibrating. Two require minimal calibrating, and one requires full calibration. The last one did not calibrate well until I updated the calibration system. I had assumed that this Vec was a rarity, it being in such bad condition but I should have made the calibration system accommodate this unit from the start. LedZep described by email his situation and it somewhat mirrored my bad Vec. I made sure that the updated system went well beyond fixing this, regardless of whether you need to calibrate to the left, right, up, down, or a combination of angles. That describes the pit calibration. The warrior calibration is what Chris is referring to, and that is a very minimal fix that simply corrects the warrior placement on the screen (and it corrects both warriors at the same time). So, if you start a game and your warrior is pressing against the screen bezel or something, you can bring him over and at the same time move the other warrior as well. Again, a very minor tweak.

I've uploaded a video of the single-player game to youtube (just the first opponent): www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUlJuRl0nEkAnd that is my worst Vectrex, after calibration! (the only way you can tell is by the way the warriors fall a bit to one side of the pits)

I've uploaded a video of the single-player game to youtube (just the first opponent Wow cool! Thanks. Are those curved lines in the title screen? Was there in-game music in the original? I thought I remembered hearing a constant pulsing noise either in emulation or in some video I watched. ... I like the musical interludes in the Vectrex Warrior though. Is that all new music? Can't tell which warrior is player one and which is the computer. So I guess that means the AI is pretty effective. Just tried to revisit your website and it is 'server not found'. Not showing in google searches either.

Must've been temporary, as it works for me. Or maybe something fried at your end.

Hi, no those are not technically curved lines in the title, just lots of little lines. The arcade game did not have title music. It also had a different sound effect for the warrior regeneration. I went with my own sfx and music. The player's warrior starts in the top right corner in the 1-player game.
The computer warriors each fight differently. The one depicted in the video is very easy to beat, being the first enemy in the 1-player game. The next one is the War Maiden, and she is probably the best defender of all of them, but still not all that difficult to beat since she doesn't attack very often. Then things pick up a little bit. The replay value is high with this because the opponents can change their fighting style a litte bit during the game play.

If I got you (George) right, shipping is in order of serial numbers. Which Warrior serial number will ship next? I guess all people who have ordered Warrior would like to know.

"Backdrops are impossible to use with the Vectex system (unless you want to build your own cabinet with half-silvered mirror and backdrop art work to house your Vectrex monitor), "
I had been waiting for someone to do Warrior on the Vectrex and I guess I was out of the scene too long and missed it.
I was hoping if this got done that someone WOULD come up with a half-silvered solution. It would be very limited edition and probably very pricey, but yet completely and utterly awesome.
